If you have any interest in actually making your car faster while not spending much money (I believe you do), then go this route:

- Hallman Pro MBC, Forge UNOS MBC, Turbosmart Tee = $85
- JDM MR DV = $110
- LICP (vendor of choice) = $170
- Megan downpipe = $150
- Megan test pipe = $80
- Walbro 255 = $85
- Mail-in Dynoflash for $199 (or flasher of your choice)"

The comment you just made about not wanting to abuse your car "like that" is very disconcerting. You equated it to "speed racing," which is nothing like going to the track and seeing exactly what your car can do...and what YOU can do as a driver. This is a race car...it is meant to be raced. Racing doesn't mean abusing...
hey, im now just getting into the performance mods. the reason i got an alarm and a system was because i didnt want to spend money on the evo while not having a decent security system. given that we all know if someone wants the car bad enough, theyll take it one way or another...but a little protection is better than none.
before the year is over, i will get a down pipe, jdm mr bov, test pipe, mbc and if money is left over from other spendings ams lower intercooler pipings.
and at night i do sometimes drive enthusiastly...while not crazy i do find the twisties on the way home from studying
thanks for ur suggestion on what mods to get as well

its obvious that a "n00b" wont know all the detail about the same car as a person who owns it for several years would. this is my first car with a turbo so im new to a lot of the concepts and im also on other forums...i know how aggrevating it is to deal with a newbie. while a lot of ppl say "why dont u use the search function", following this theory should state that basically everything thats ever need to be asked have been covered already so theres no need for new topics or threads at all.
i tried to be as nice of a n00b as possible, posting smiley emoticons and such showing positive attitude because this is the internet and u cant obviously hear my tone of voice as i type...so to answer you...no i guess i didnt detect your sarcasm

I think your still taking my post the wrong way. I was jabbing G20 for his rather incoherent post. No aggravation here.

sorry man, didnt meant to take that out on u but just wanted to stated what was on my mind. i feel that evoM is one of a few boards that has a lot of members but still a "warming" board unlike otherboards ie clubrsx. i hate it how a few bad apples can misrepresent the whole forum. (not pointing to anyone in particular)
it could be that his evo is just faster
that is possible as well but i really do think its the weight diff lol. being that his car is empty all the time while in addition to the subs, i always have my driving puma shoes, books, and bacpack in the car.

first off, your car is 112 pounds heavier being ssl. your 12's add another 100 pounds. you have a catback which makes you loose alot of back pressure. 200 pounds is a great deal of weight. I just traded in my 04 on an 06 and got ssl and couldnt be more pleased. The leather is awesome along with the sunroof. Well worth the 100 pounds imo.

Ya I just got my car and ever since 50 miles ive been racing it up to 6000 once in a while and i also did a couple launches, i just got my oiled changed at 1000 miles and a 3 of my friends came over and i gave them a ride. i have the rs also but even with 4 ppl in my car noticing that one is 220 and the others 180 i put everyone back in there seat even at 4th gear. i floor my car nearly 5 times a day or more... its driven to thrill, and ppl need to know what an evo is made for. they dont just add a turbo for you not to use it and go slow, the car is made for it. i had an eclipse 2000 gt and i broke it in by babying it, my friend also has a gt eclipse and he never went soft on it since he got it, i could tell a big differance from my car and his, his was much faster when both were stock and no other added weight.

wj4,
I'm just joking with you. I never consider anybody a n00b. But for sure that you can drive your car harder without breaking it. The only time when it'll break is if you modifying it and didn't do it right like not tuning it correctly.
Hey! At least i'm answer to your post, not telling to use the "Search". All cool man.

Wj4, I seriously hope this is a joke. Does this mean you haven't even been going up to 5k rpm? We don't even make peak HP until 6500-6800 rpm. At 5k, you still are below 200whp. If and when you get the mods to reach 300whp, you won't hit that 300whp until 6800rpm. If you think shifting at 5k is something special, you will never even get close to hitting 300whp when driving...you'll only see it on the dyno.

Man, this car's rev limit is 7600rpm. People raise it and go to 8000rpm with cams and pumped up boost without upgrading any internals. Now, granted, the stock turbo falls off in power up that high, but even in stock form, you can make full use of the stock rev range by ragging it out to 7500 in any given gear. Now, if you're doing a 1-2-3-4 drag race, you would want to shift at 7000-7200, but if you're just making the most of any single gear, you might as well go to 7500.

lol yes bro, i am joking. dont take a message board too seriously man....one of the reason i babied the car was because i want to break it in right. of course during the test drive i was shifting at 7k rpm or so becuase u cant buy a stereo without cranking it up first. of course i only do this when i have the space to do so, i dont do it in so cal rush hour traffic jam or anything like that..would be a great situation to test the brembos though right?lol. i just need to get a boost controller to take care of that taper problem, then hopefully my butt can feel the difference

there is somethng about added weight. I don't belive 100lb =.1 sec theory. added weight can overload your engine and ECU might pull some timing if you are not tunned for that added weight. I posted about .5 sec loss when I added my 110 lbs friend.
