The car is truely amazing.. I believe people are saying that it has turbo lag..?? Evidentally they haven't driven a turbo car before because this thing goes into boost at around 3g's.. That's normal for any car unless the turbo is as small as their dick!! Helloo.... It spools just fine people, and the real power it just a small tweak away!! It is a wonderful machine, and thank god that we finally have it here...

I sat in a new EVO yesterday. Max Madsen Mitsubishi in Countryside IL is selling them for MSRP, they have 6 in stock. 1 red, 2 silver, 2 yellow and 1 black.

The recaro seat is awesome in the drivers side. I bodybuild as a hobby, I am 5'7" and weigh 215 lbs. and the seat is the most comfortable supportive seat, it felt SO good on my spine, I wish I had that to sit in while at work here in front of my PC!

The 5-speed felt VERY VERY VERY notchy though. Definitely not like a Toyota or Honda/Acura manual transmisson. I didn't like it, and it was hard to snap it into a gear.

In person, the car looks big, and somehow, looks heavy. I think it's because of the roominess, I'm used to driving 2-door coupes with an unusable back-seat.

They said Blue By You is unavailable in the area until later on, that Max Madsen has not seen that color yet. I think it's a great car for the money but is NOT worth more than over MSRP. This car *WILL* see improvements in the year(s) to come as engineers figure things out for the U.S. version. I also think the car deserves a better gear-box - and should come standard with sport pedals, front and rear strut braces.

Mike

They actually do have these.. Do a search.. I don't have a link right now.

Well, then don't go drive a WRX.. Personally trading up from the WRX has been very nice

Actually I've noticed, the more I drive the EVO, the smoother the tranny gets.. So it either wasn't warmed up enough or it's still to be broke in a little more...

I drive an RSX-S and the gearbox is VERY smooth... I shifted the EVO8's gearbox and it felt pretty good, by comparison the WRX's is by far clunkier than the EVO's... admittidly my rsx feels better... but no power to back it up...make the compromises and I'll take and evo or sti(hopefully the sti gearbox feels good, same as euro sti, which SCC tested a few months back and said was very nice.)

Oh one more thing, I bought my Mitsu Evo from Savannah Mitsubishi they have a 3,000 dollar markup but if you have the time to wheel and deal then this will go away. But they are hard about dropping price.

I saw the Blue car at the dealer when I picked up my Black one.. Personally I didn't like the color much.. Its nice, but reminds me of the countless WRX's I see all over the place. Yellow was my second choice in color, and its really nice in person. I haven't seen red yet though.

Are you saying the xenons on the Evo are crap, and they fade away to a hologen look over time???

The tranny is notchy even when warmed up. It's weird cuz I was paying particular attention to it today. I was trying to speed shift and missed 4th a few times. Going into 1st and 3rd are a breeze but for some reason the lower half of the gear box has trouble. When the car was parked afterwards I was rowing through the gears to see what was up and it shifted much smoother. I'm going to have to play with it a bit more to find the sweet spots.
The car is worth what you will pay for it. For me over MSRP is a steal. You can't buy this kind of performance for under $40K in anything else. And although I agree it should come with sport pedals it's no big. My Supra didn't come with sport pedals and it was $45K! BUT the Evo does come with strut braces. But they make lighter, more rigid versions I guess as an accessory.

I got to see the rear strut bar accessory and hold it. Very light but the thing looks like pure a$$. It literally looked unfinished. It had the look of a schoolyard fence post with pound scrapes all over the flange. It's like damn at least chrome the thing for $300+. The shift knob kinda blows too. Mitsu's accessories are looking to be really crappy.

Disappointed? Not at all.

I've got ~1500 miles on the car and am loving every minute.

What strikes me about this car is still the handling and the responsiveness. The acceleration and braking is equal to my expectations... but the handling and responsiveness has blown me away.

3. No boost guage or EGT guage.

Stuff i cant do anything about,

1. Xenons color change from white to as yellow as my regular lights.
2. No ACD or AYC if i wanted one.
3. No titanium turbo. "Nice to have faster spool up to decrease lag"
4. No factory cruse control.
I was orginally thinking 265 hp with ACD last year with no recaro and small FMIC.
Worry about front LSD when you actually push the car
past it's limit and find you need one. For about 95% of the people out there this will never happen. Same with the ACD.
1-3) All aftermarket add ons that you shouldn't expect in the first place. Except the auto-dim mirror. I actually had one in my last car it was nice.

1) If your Xenons are turning yellow either your color blind or they're going bad. In which case you buy new ones. What do you mean nothing you can do about it? FYI they don't turn yellow. I've never seen this nor heard of this happening.
2) You probably will never need them either
3) Get NOS and your turbo will spool faster than you ever thought possible. Again there's something you can do about it.
4) You won't miss it unless you're a travelling businessman. Which if you were you shouldn't be travelling in this car.
5) Why would you want less power(unless that's to the wheels which will happen with ECU management) and last year had recaros as well. Why would you want a less efficient smaller IC that would have to be replaced if you ever upgraded your turbo anyway?

Sorry man just seems like some weak a$$ excuses. It's a $30K car. I know to some that may seem like a lot but it's not. Especially today when the streets are overcrowded with cars costing $50-150K. This car is truly an unbelievable bargain.
