Another AYC/ACD Discussion

Hi Guys! ACD could be fun if it were an adjustable center diff where you can change the amount of power that goes to the rear, but it isnt like that.
AYC is a big heavy rear diff which keeps the car from oversteering and induces understeer. AYC often breaks (there have even been recalls). AYC is VERY expensive and very useless, except for beginners. But then again, beginners shouldnt be driving an Evo...
AYC adds about 50 lbs to the cars weight.
In conclusion: ACD and AYC are unreliable electronic devices that sound cool when you dont have them, but that take away from the pleasure of driving the Evo when you do have them. It cost me $4,000 to remove the AYC. Believe me, if it were any good I wouldnt have done that!

Face it people like bells and whistles!
I wouldent be surprised if Mits made up a Variable Center Diff for the next redesign of the Evolution, to somewhat counteract the DCCD used in the WRX STi.
For me, I dont care much for electronic diff's, a lucky salesman would have my sale for a US Spec Evo RS with a 6 speed when and if they ever come here.

already has a Variable Active Center diff. It has three settings to play with. On the top of the DCCD, those settings are closer to the settings of the DCCD-A in auto mode. So, by looking it from the different angle Subaru has one auto setting in there, while
has three. Subaru also has infinite setting for that center diff (locking wise), while
has none. On the top of that, STi has different gearing ratio in the drivetrain (35:65 F/R), while
has 50:50.Similar differences if you ask me...

So then what are AYC and ACD's good for? Rallying? But not on tarmac?

Rally teams like the Evo 7 because it is more rigid, but they hate the electronics they cannot control that Mitsubishi put on there...
