Are you referring to the 12.015 and then rounding up? If I ran 11.999, then that would be "11's," not 12.0.

There would be no reason to post some randomly-guessed crank numbers from the website of an exhaust vendor, so I'm assuming those are dyno numbers from JDM IXs.
+1 Very good point.

Didn't you take 6th grade science? A 12.001 and 11.999 are exactly the same when represented in four significant digits -- 12.00. There's an extra digit of accuracy there, if you drop it, you have to round it up in this case. Seriously, ask any scientist or engineer who has published a refereed paper.

Yes, I know how to do rounding in the worlds of science and pure math, but this is drag racing. I ran a 12.01. If I were to run an 11.999, I would say that I ran an 11.99. People don't run around providing details out to the thousandth, and we don't round up.

Hmmm, scientist versus racer. I know if I got 11.999 i would make sure everyone knew I was in the 11's not a low twelve run! May not be scientific but that makes more sense to me

Cheers

You can talk about rounding numbers all you want. It comes down to the racetrack and who crosses the finish first. Rounding significant figures doesn't even up a race. An 11.999 crosses the finish before a 12.001, no matter how you look at it.

Well sort of...that is if the reaction time was the exact time. If they left at the exact same time you would be correct about the times. Not being a butt, just saying. Running a whole shot on someone is sometimes fun. Great to hear "My time was faster, why did you win." Then I say, "Because I left you at the line." Then I laugh and pet my car a little.....

point taken. typo.

HAS published a refereed paper.

Feel better? And how lame is MY saturday night?

But seriously, the reason you get 5 digits (most of the time) is because you're measuring a quantity at that accuracy. An 11.999 _is_ in the 11's. Anything epsilon less than 12 is in the 11's. However, if you drop digits there are _rules_. A 12.005 is a 12.01.

back to producing grammatically incorrect science papers...

True...if they left the line at exactly the same time, which is very unlikely. Which is why the faster car doesn't win 100%. You can have a slightly slower time but still win with a better reaction time. Time clock doesn't start until you cross the beams, not when the light turns green.

back to the point anyway.........325?!!!? okay what is the difference in the 9's besides the 10.5 hotside and ACD. Also there are lightweight minimal mods done to the body of the car and the roof line. with those numbers I'm guessing there was no cat for the JDM? honed cylinder heads or something?

Lightweight mods shouldn't affect horsepower though.
