ok so when i shift into almost every gear it feels knotchy, especialy in 1st and 2nd. it only happens sometimes, othertimes it shifts smooth, it also feels like it is shooting out of first when i shift sometimes. the other thing is that over the past 2 months the noise that the car makes while in nutral has got louder, goes away when i push in the clutch. one last thing when u take the car to get an alignment at a place like wheel works do i need to be worried about them using the aggressive camber settings from the factory? i have a 2003 by the way

When was the last time you changed your transmission fluid?

 

My 1st guess would be a bad clutch, but i'd double check with someone who's got more experience than I. Say.... A mitsu tech?

edit.. oh yea, the tranny fluid would cause that too. Happend to my roomate a few years ago

 

I have the same noise...when the clutch is not pressed in, there is like a soft hum/faint whine. And it goes away when the clutch is pressed down. I changed my transmission fluid 2k miles ago and I have 34k on my car...not sure what it is but if something breaks...ill let you know!
