knock values on an afcII

just wonderin what other people are getting with their afc in regards to knock values, i set my afc up according to directions and i am always getting a reading, sometimes even at idle. has anyone else experience this or what?? oh and i had posted this same thread in the afc section but got no attention

not sure if this is correct but i think that the number that the afc reads is very innacurate. for one reason it had a number for knock on both of my cars even my new 05 evo and another reason is because it doesnt even give units....like when it reads 50 what does that mean? 50 what

The SAFC is NOT an accurate tool for measuring knock on the EVO.

+1 i know its hooked up right too.

for the rest that have a #, i called apex-i they told me nothing more than 60-and up, the higher the # the more knock like detonation there is (thats bad). the knock sensor picks up other noises the motor makes naturatly like pulleys turning and injectors pulseing and stuff like that make noise natural harmonics. so basicly no higher than 60 and +

did you calibrate it correctly? the calibration helps the safc to filter out engine noise. make sure you do it for both rpm range. mine seems to work fine, i only see knock value between 5-20 once in a while at peak torque rpm range. my datalogger even shows timing being pulled when the safc show knocks.
