Help!

Ok, so after a month of saving every penny I finally got the money so I order the clutch and drop my car off to get it installed. I know I could install the clutch myself but time, tools, and a warm garage are lacking on my end. I take my car to this shop that I trust more than any shop in my area. They have had my car for a week and give me little status updates every now and again. Well today they deliver a bomb, the dumbass who had the car before me thrashed the transmission. My mechanic said he could tell that transmission was out before, there was a lack of bolts on the top most mount. The transmission was not properly installed and he thinks that engine is slightly out of line. When I bought the car the car fax report stated one minor accident in the left rear. Well the damage underneath shows that this car was airborne at least once.

I have only made one payment on this damn car, it cost me 22k. The dealer said that the car was flagged for mods and ergo no warranty work. My mechanic said he might be able to salvage the transmission but he can't gurantee it will work for more then 6 months to a year.

I called the place that I bought the car and they are well, thats the cost of buying a used car.

What can I do, I can't afford a new transmission, or another car at that. I love this freaking car but the more I work on it the more I find problems.

Get a Lawyer! The dealers who buy at auctions, buy from other dealers, and there is full disclosure there, or they are "kicked" out of the auction houses if they try to pass trash to their fellow dealers. THEY KNEW!

If the CARFAX Report for the used vehicle you buy misses any of these DMV-reported problems then CARFAX will buy back your vehicle at your full purchase price...GUARANTEED!

All DMV reports are on there, the *** hole before me prolly blew the car up at a track and then knocked the car back into running shape and then dumped it.

It was a small family ran dealership that I can honestly say had no knowledge of the mod work and voided warranty.

Your best option is Car Fax buyback as mentioned above. You will not get squat out of the place that sold you the car. They are laughing straight to the bank and they were probably all standing around a speakerphone to laugh at you when you called.

How many miles did you put on the car before you had these problems?

If he bought it from a DEALER auction, thats where all dealers buy the cars, and they have a color-code on the windshield, and there is an INspection by the auction houses, to check underneath, engine etc... There has to be info on this when they bought it! unless it was traded in, or bought at a PUBLIC auction. my 2c

I put about 1000k miles on it, but I had do an oil flush they put in the wrong oil. The quick lube where the dealership I bought the car uses put in conventional oil and the wrong weight. I had to change my oil and filter drive 500 miles, change my oil and filter again, and then keep an eye on my oil for sediments.

How long have you had your car for? Some states, like Massachusetts, have a lemon law that requires dealerships to provide warranty for the first 90 days. Not sure if this would apply to where you live, but in Massachusetts the dealer would have to foot your bill.

Also, did the dealer provide you with any paperwork that stated the car was under warranty? Might want to use that against them if you find out that the car's warranty was voided previously.

You may want to do some research, and definately speak to a lawyer about your case right away if the law is on your side.

Good luck.
