Up to 7-9 inches of white powder hit Chicago today. It is also my first time in the snow with my evo and an allweather Pirelli P-Zero - Nero M+S. At first it was really scary, but after a few minutes of warming up and getting used to the condition, everything suddenly changed. The experience was just incredible and i still could not believe that a car like this is capable of doing things that i thought was impossible to do. And to think that i am only using an all weather tire. It would definitely slide sideways, but a simple correction of the steering wheel and a little more gas would point you to any direction you choose. It is definitely incredible. I just flew by Beemers, Jags, Porsches, Vettes, Mustangs and SUV's.

A real set of snow tires will make a huge difference even over all-weather tires. I run the Nokian Hakkapeliiitta RSI. Absolutely amazing is all I can say. I know a few people who use these for ice racing (studless class).

If you can imagine a 330WHP car accelerating at full throttle through 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear on a snowy, icy country dirt road and feeling completely comfortable and in control. And almost no wheel spin because the tires hook up so well - it just pushes you back in the seat and rockets you forward.

It's just crazy. I love winter!!

Anyone else find that Tarmac in the SNOW feels more controlled than Snow mode in the SNOW with their studless snow/ice tires (I am running blizzak ws-50s)?

I'm glad im not the only one to notice it. I thought it was my driving style. But i did notice that the evo is more controllable in tarmac mode when driving in regular speed but, but when you go in insane speed the snow setting is just incredible.
