ive done that trip 3 times with my evo and all i did was change the oil and check tire presure.

BUT THERE IS ONE THING YOU WILL NEED BRING SOMETHING SOFT TO SIT ON BECAUSE AFTER A FEW HOURS YOU KNEE WILL START TO HURT. AND SO WILL YOUR FOOT. But when you sit on something it keeps your knees up with suport and your foot wont be at a wierd angle when your giveing it gas.

If you have a afc you can check this. Dont press the gas over 21.7% if you do this will put you at 1 psi which will start to give you bad gas mileage. I did this test many times before, At that % i got on a avg. from a full tank of gas 306-328 mpg, Keeping it out of boost pays off. There are not alot of people that mess with you on the eway but once and awhile there someone that comes along to try to race you dont even waste your time.

One last thing be on the look out for ford suv's, chevy pick up's , and grand prix's, these are a few of the new unmaked cop cars going down the highways ive had a cople close calls so be on the look out.

When will you be hitting Deal's Gap? I may run out (20 minutes away) and play some. (I am hosting a car rally there on Dec. 17-18)

Either way, jot down my phone number (828-479-9030) and if you have any problems near this area, you can give me a call for help.

Good point. My pinkey and ring finger went numb for about 2 weeks (now it's fine) I drove from Minneapolis to DC straight threw and had my elbow resting on the window. The doc said I pinched a nerve.

zip ties for sure, battery charger (for the car)......and a glock 19. You will save a TON of money by bringing a couple of cases of bottled water.

Everything that has been listed sounds great so far. I would just add a set of jumper cables. I never leave home without them.

It all depends on the traffic to Nashville. I am leaving Milwaukee very early in the morning to beat the Chicago traffic (sucks). The best time I did to nashville is about 8 hours, so Im guessing about 3-4pm I will be at Deals gap. i will for sure take your number with me and give you a ring when Im leaving nashville. There was another road/hwy around there "...... Skyway" is all I can remember.

Is there anyplace to stop while on the dragon, some type of wayside or something? Just for pictures. Too bad Im going in the off season and with the wrong tires on the car. So I will be sure to take it slow the first time, but on my way back drive a little more spirited.

For those of you who say take radar detectors, I dont like using them because if I did well lets say Im sure my license would be gone. I have 2.5 weeks down there Im really in no hurry.

The only time i really need to be in Florida is on the 22nd so TTP can flash the car real quick. Sorry Scott but your luggage can wait, the plane isn't leaving without you.

Hey dryadoo1, you still didn't exactly say what day(s) you thought you'd be at the Gap, sorry if I missed something.

There are lots of pull-offs on the Gap for slower traffic to pull over. You can pull off there and get some pics. I'm not sure if there will be much else besides you there.

Silverlining says to take a cellphone charger. But its kinda useless if you dont take a cell phone. Take your wallet and your VISA card. Never leave home without it.

Usually when I take a long road trip I normally take with me:

1) Touch up paint
2) Quick detailer spray
3) a chamois
4) California car duster
5) Buffing cloth
6) paper towels
7) glass cleaner spray
8) fix-a-flat
9) simple tools
10) zip-ties
11) 1 qt oil
12) Tire pressure gauge
13) EZ pass tag (hate waiting in lines at toll booths)
14) torque wrench (can be used as batton as well)
15) cooler packed with beverages
16) Road maps
17) cell phone charger
18) cell phone of course
19) pen and writing pad
20) digital camera/video camera
21) wallet/atm cards/credit cards

and I also make sure that there is proper air in the tires, enough oil, etc etc.
