Clutch

Well i think my clutch is on its way out i have about 30000 miles on it its an ACT street disk, have done a lot of hard driving on it since the day it got put in 4 times to the track numerous times offroading, basically the clutch has at least 200+ launches on it, wondering if theres something i might do to make it last a lil longer was thinking of bleeding it, and removing the restrictor pill, or just adjusting the clutch pedal, basically it only slips slightly when its cold in only 4th or 5th gear right now, and the thing is it doesnt do it all the time it will once in a while slip iin those gears by only about 300-500 rpms but then regrip and keep pulling hard till redline, maybe its just because it is kinda cold out, any help appreciated

It's gonna go, how soon depends on how you drive it. Sounds to me that it really doesn't owe you anything and it's been a good clutch. Start saving is one of the things you can do. I got almost 40k miles out of my stocker, my ACT with street disk has 50 miles on it, man it's a great clutch.

I absolutely agree!! 30k out of any clutch on an evo is gravy.

Bleeding the clutch probably won't help, you lack clamping force to hold the power. Bleeding will only help the clutch engage better, but it won't effect the clutches ability to hold the power.

Where does that logic come from?? DSM's rarely if EVER use multi-disk clutches and there are a multitude of DSM's running huge turbos and big power. My 95 TSi made well north of 500AWHP and I'm running a good ole ACT 2900 with a full face kevlar disk. Multi-disk isn't the only thing out there that works is all I'm saying. Shep wasn't even running a multi-disk clutch at mid 8 second power levels. He had an ACT 3200 pressure plate with a 6 puck sprung disk if I remember correctly.

The disk is to thin bleeding wount help, drive very easy and don't beat on it should get 2 to 3 weeks out of it if you do that but dont take the restrictor out till you put in the new clutch that will only kill it sooner.

i launched my car hard last night and it smelled pretty bad...i think my clutch is on its way out too it doesnt slip but its kinda weird how i can start off in first gear pretty easy without having to apply to much gas... and u almost have to let go of the pedal for it to grab...i think im going with ACT street disc and heavy duty pressure plate...but where is the best site to buy it and how much do installs cost?

If you're lucky, you'll find someone around town that can do it in his garage! Word of mouth lead me to this older guy that builds cars for fun. Charged me $100 to put a clutch in my eclipse last year!
