You sure about that? I sometimes wonder if people really don't know the difference in the numbers bloodrain just mentioned (published crank HP) and the numbers I mentioned above (proven wheel horsepower). It would be a shame if people bought STi's due to actually believing the STi "is putting down 300hp with 300 lbs of torque."

it is a shame. quite sad really. my friends with STi's all fell for it usually when i talk to my friends about cars, i spend a good amount of time explaining the difference btwn crank/wheel hp. i believe knowing the difference is very important as companies are trying to market to the ignorant masses by using high crank numbers as an attraction. sadly most ppl fall for this lil marketing technique...

it depends if you are going to mod the car or keep it stock, and if you are going to do the mod yourself or take it to a shop. i was looking at getting the sti before i bought the evo but knowing that i was going to mod the car and do most of the work myself, i went with the evo. i'm more comfortable working with inline-4. the boxer engine is no fun to work on, and parts for the subie is generally more expensive than the evo.

if you are going to keep it stock. the sti is a better car, more reliable plus better interior.

lol...yeah, not seeing anything to do with power out of the sti...i had a buddy with an srt4 now 05 evo freshsrt on here, beat the hell out of an sti at the track. the sti launched like a pro, no miss shifting, at about 8th was like 6 car lengths ahead, and by the 1/4 got his rear end handed to him by the srt... both modded, the srt a little more obviously but not enough to run him down like that.... i had an 03 evo at the time, a little more modded than the sti but not much and he couldnt run me down to save his life..... sti in my opinion is no comparison to the evo in any category, especially power. maybe im biased, but somebody in that case prove me wrong
