LOL the Rx-8 in any category of performance is not better than an Evo. Well the magazines always talk bout "Stock" Evo's, they dont kno about the modding capabilites of an Evo. They dont kno that a simple flash, tbe, and mbc can do wonders. This would make the evo further higher on the perfomance list of cars.

I was doing some random search on google about average mpg of US cars for sale in 2005, and an article on Wikipedia popped up. and said this:

"Turbocharged engines tend to obtain the most fuel efficiency, with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR FQ-400 2L straight-four engine having 200hp/L. It is a rare occurrence for a naturally aspirated engine to obtain a high fuel efficiency."

Just thought it was cool they chose the Evo as its example

The Top Gear with the FQ-400 listed the MPG when driving spiritedly at a ridiculous 4 MPG. The engine is power efficient, but certainly not fuel.

Motor Trend just gave the Civic Si "Car of the Year".

As for Consumer Reports...they're better at rating kitchen appliances than cars.

Motor Trend justified their slection criteria and I would agree - It's alotta car for little dough.
Turbo cars generally do get higher gas mileage - consider a 4cyl around town (0-limited boost) vs. a V8. American automakers: "There's no replacement for displacement." Japanese Automakers: "?" Well actually I don't know what they say, but they sure squeeze insane power/litre out of their engines! Even German automakers are making more use of 8/10/12 cyl motors and giving their smaller motors more displacement. My name states what I believe in.

Anyone who puts any stock in Consumer Reports car ratings thinks a car IS AN APPLIANCE. It gets you from point A to point B for the cheapest operating cost, and has a nice cushy seat for your big fat middle-aged American derriere.

Things like hp/liter, lbs./hp, 1/4 mile times and trap speeds, lateral g's, etc. are not things you read Consumer Reports to learn about, for chrissakes!

The next troll who cries about a bad Consumer Report for the EVO is hereby ordered to go trade his car in for a Prius.

RX-8's are SLOW!!! Test drove one at the Mazda Rev-it up/ ZOOM ZOOM event and it was weak. The Mazdaspeed Miata was funner to drive. The lowest I've seen them run at the track is 15.8.

But the interior is sweet, but that's about it.

lol yea i remember them saying this

4mpg x 14gallons= 56 miles to a tank lol...I'll drive 56 miles in two days so every two days your filling your car up for about $2.25 for premium(boston area). Thats almost $94 a week in gas, killer.....but If you had the FQ-400 you'd be rich anyways and could afford that.

I would bet you need to run an FQ-400 on 100 octane. $5.50/gal., if you can find it. Do the math again.
