Assessment of my EVO's value

Hi guys, I just browse evom and dont post much but I wanted to get some input on this. With the EVO X getting closer to production, I started to think of trading up to that model. I have an 03 WW GSR with 8600 miles (I have two cars so I dont drive my EVO that much) and if ever I do decide to trade up, I'm thinking of selling my 03 instead of trading it in at the dealer. Now, given the milage, is an asking price of $27500 reasonable? The car is practically a virgin, no mods what so ever, super clean, well maintained (oil changes every 1500-2000 miles) and has never ever been abused, raced or tracked (I have a track ***** miata for that purpose) and has a clean title. So factoring these in, would that price be fair if I were to sell my EVO?

No, $27,500 is nowhere near reasonable. You can buy new 05s for that price, used 05 MRs for that price, and you can almost get a new IX for that much. By the time the X comes out, which could be 2 years from now, your 03 will be worth far, far less.

for stock 03 in really good shape you're probably looking 24-ish

from edmunds value estimator: in "outstanding" condition.

trade in - 22024
private sale - 23411
dealer resale - 25828

in "clean" condition

trade in - 21031
private sale - 22400
dealer resale - 24682

sorry to bust your bubble.

So somewhere around 25000 would be reasonable then?

No, you're not a dealer. In the most pristine possible condition at that mileage, it is worth 23.4k. There is absolutely no reason for someone to buy an 03 that is almost out of warranty for a price close to what a brand new 05 costs with a 5yr/60k B2B and 10yr/100k powertrain warranty.

Also, this is only if you sell it NOW, not if you sell it when the X is released.

Hmm, ok. Well thanks for the input. I'm still unsure if I want to keep my evo or trade up but this gives me something to think about. Right now its 95% keep, 5% trade.

I think 25k would be reasonable if your car is nearly perfect. I know this because I just went through the buying process and in my area a pristine used EVO would have costed me 25k. It is hard to find an EVO that is completely stock and I know that the more modded they were the less I was willing to pay. The used one I almost bought was perfect, stock, had all service records, low miles and one owner. I was willing to pay more for that car. I the end though I bought a new IX RS because ... its really not worth it to buy a used EVO... they are holding there value like crazy and I love the updates of the IX

I observed the same thing when I did some price research a few months back. Althought the KBB/NADA suggested trade value is 23ish, most private party owners post theirs for 25~27. I'm still thinking about weather to sell/trade or keep my evo. I love it, it's one of the best cars that I own but lately I feel that I've grown out of it.

Don't listen to the people here. They don't know all the details. Like the fact that you have 5 grand in cash in the glove compartment. You do have 5 grand in the glove compartment, right? YOU DON'T!!... Pff!

I mean... yes, $27K is reasonable.... pff

Sorry couldn't keep a straight face.

Go online and check Autotrader and eBay Auto. Narrow the results to 100 miles from your home and see what Evos with similar mileage are selling for. It will at least give you an idea what others in your area are trying to get for theirs.

Depends where you live. Ive seen used 03 evos go for 25k with 30-40k miles on them in Cali . Guy got 25k on trade in out here for his 03 and he only paid 28k for it.
