oil filter wrench

Im looking for an oil filter wrench for the oem filter on an 03 EVo. I've gone to every autoparts store around and none fit the filter. I would like the socket type.

Does anyone have a part number for one of these.

Thanks

Bring your filter to a parts store with a good selection and test fit them. I found one in a box of un-packaged generic filter wrenches.

I bought one that will work with any size filter 2 1/2 to 4 in.. I thought it wasn't gonna be good cuz its adjustable. Its this three clawed thing that goes on to a rachet, when you turn the rachet counterclock-wise (lefty loosey) the claw grap the s*&t of of the filter and loosens it very easily. I dont like the band/ chain style filter wrenches.

I just use channel locks. The filters getting thrown out anyways, so why does it matter if it's smashed up just a bit from the channel locks.

I use one like this. It is adjustable and small so it fits any car. I never had it slip yet. It may deform (crush) your old filter but who cares.

Yes, i believe i got the same one as you and you turn it clock wise to open the jaws and then counter clock wise to grab the filter tight and begin to loosen it.

Don't ever do that. If you can't get the filter off after making the hole with the screwdriver, you can't even put oil in it and drive it. One of my friends used to do that all the time until one time he couldn't get the filter off after he made the hole, had to get the car towed to a shop and they fixed it.

The picture posted earlier I stole from amazon.com:
Amazon Amazon

Not sure if quality is the same as Sears, but it looks similar.
