Question The current state of the 03 misfire?

Make : MITSUBISHI
Model : LANCER EVOLUTION
Year : 2003
Manufacturer : MITSUBISHI MOTORS NORTH AMERICA, INC.
Service Bulletin Num : 116
Date of Bulletin: JUN 01, 2005
NHTSA Item Number: 10015626
Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Summary: ROUGH IDLE/MISFIRE. MITSUBISHI TECH TALK. *TT

What is Mitsu doing about this??? In my case I have got a CES light on 3 occasions now and taken it to the shop twice already. The first time was on a U-turn then medium-hard acceleration, I did my research and asked them to update the EMU firmware. About 6 months later it happens again, high speed run on a coolnight caused it to throw a SES that went off a couple days later before I could take the car in. Now, recently I got another CES will doing nothing but cruising on a freeway at 80... car bogged... CES popped on... backed off the gas and costed... engine was still running... reved it a little to make sure it wasnt a missing cylinder but engine seemed like it was operating but slugish... continued to drive to destination (no ability to stop and check) at which point the car continued to get better.. tested full boost and peaked at 18 with no odd noises. At this point im frustrated... I dont want the car in the shop anymore then it take to fix the problem but anytime I take it in... they cant get it right or (i assume) cant do anything about it. The car does idle rough and irregualar... nothing extremely noticeable but she purred like a kitten when I first bought it and now it has a noticable shimmy to it inside the drivers seat. Is there a magic fix to this? Ive seriously thought about going with an AEM EMS because I think its better for the car then the stock brain but then warrenty is an issue. The car is completely stock btw, just a few accessories like boost guage and tt... put back in the original bov even.

have you checked your spark plugs?
spark plugs can tell you why you are misfiring. Usual causes are:
the gap of the spark plugs( too wide)
Heat range of the spark plugs ( too cold)
running too rich
too much boost
not running hard enough( spark plugs has to be self cleaned like oven, It has to reach certain in cylinder temperature to burn off the deposits)

My 03 haas done it 3 times in the past 2 weeks I've owned it?

Mines going to the dealer as soon as I get a stock airbox to fix this problems and the transfer case leak.

Everytime I've had a missfire code I've changed the plugs and fixed the problem.

My po300 was recently fixed with the Xede and SMART...not only did it fix that but with a good tune by Shiv my car has never felt better and its been over a month without the code coming back, I had lived with the code on my car for a better part of 6 months where i would clear it and it would be back in minutes......

factory plugs are too expensive.
Grap bpr7ES or bpr7EIX. BPR7ES is cheap but you have to change it often.
I personally liked bpr7EIX gapped to .28. I have used bpr7EIX for 40 miles gapped already for 19 dollars shipped. I moved on to one step colder (BPR8ES) since my engine was producing too much heat due to the mods I put in.
