C16 racing fuel price.

i wanna know how much does a galon of c16 racing gas usually run for.
and also, is the c16 race fuel leaded? if it is, is there a chance that it will create some problem to the motor or somethign?

I don't know the current going price, but it's over $10/gal. Yes, of course it's leaded, and that doesn't hurt the motor, but it will kill your o2 sensor and cat if you have one.

You sure? C16 or 116oct? If that's the price for C16, you should go buy as much as you can then sell it to everyone else for $10/gal.

I think the C16 from VP is a complete waste of time. The dirtbike shop around me sells Sunoco 116 leaded for $7.25.

It is rated at 117 MOTOR octane and on their sight, I couldnt find the research octane listed... I wonder why, probably so you cant do the equation (R+M/2) for the true anti-knock index.

Anyone know true number for C16?

You speak blasphemy for saying anything negative about C16 it's the only race fuel that 99% of people will run.....of course VP Import is the Holy Grail. Those are the only 2 leaded fuels that will go in any car that I have!!

C16 isnt 116-117 octane. It is rated at 117 MOTOR octane and on their sight, I couldnt find the research octane listed... I wonder why, probably so you cant do the equation (R+M/2) to realize your probably getting 110-114 true octane.
Nah, C16 is the best, bar none. It's much better than Sunoco 116, but for my application, I'm perfectly happy with 110oct when I go to the drag strip (or 100oct at the road course).

How is it much better than 116 leaded Sunoco?

NO, the best is VP MS109 unleaded, especially made for turbo 4bangers. As a side note, I have no cat, but ran 110 LEADED for 30K miles thru my car, and the O2 sensors are still OK. I have the AEM UEGO guage also, with the O2 sensor with that. I guess I have been lucky!

Also, C16 has a SFG of .735 and Sunoco 116 has .700 so why is C16 so much better?

I was under the impression that higher octane fuels are less dense (lower SFG).

Well, yeah, I'd love to have VP109, but I've never seen it anywhere, and I'm not sure it's as cheap as the 110oct I get for $5/gal at one track and $4/gal at another track. If I could get VP109 at the track, I'd do it every time. I don't need any higher octane than that and would prefer unleaded anyway.

It's amazing you went 30k miles without damaging the O2 sensors on leaded race gas...wow.

Thunderhill (a track bout 20 miles away) sells

100 (unleaded) for 5.99
110 (leaded) for 5.99

The local motorsports shop sells 5 gallon drum of VP MS109 unleaded for 48$. I have a drum in my garage but havn't been able to use it cuz the car is in the shop.

I guess I lucked out with the O2 sensors. . I bought a 55 gal. drum of the VP MS 109, for 326.00. Call VP, and ask them where the nearest distributor is to you. Then call them, and have them order a drum, 55 gal. or 5 gal. Thats how I did it. the alternative is WAY overpaying for it.
