What in the world have we come to when our future Evo owners are like this?

Nash, I'm not bashing you, because I can only assume it's the Ricer Nation or 2F2F that has given you such a terrible impression, so it's not your fault. I'm just pointing out your comment/question as a defining moment in the USDM Evo Community.

i dont consider myself a Ricer beacuse i dont even race, nore do i have a car to race, i drive a little crapy prizem around. my first real car is going to be the evo. but i know nothing about cars, engines, mods, or anything. i dont want to be considerd a ricer so that's why i'm on here asking questions.

sorry for not clarifying myself, but i'm very new to the whole raceing thing.

 

This is has absolutely nothing to do with racing. Ricers don't race, man, they just put useless things on their cars to make noise or look fast, but not actually be fast. I was referring to the fact that you actually thought a BOV's purpose was to make noise. Where in the world would you get that idea? My assumption is that you got it from ricers or from 2F2F.

 

how effective are those? i saw a couple on ebay a month ago for a good price

 

well yes, i did get that assumption from ricers, that's why i'm asking the question.
if your conserned with the the futer evo owners being ricers, then why bash me for asking the questions?
when i do buy this car, i want to know as much as i can possable know about an evo, racing, and car modding. i'm trying not to be a kook. but the only way to learn is to ask.

That's exactly why I said I wasn't bashing you, because I WASN'T bashing you. I was using your "question" as an example of why the Evo community has been going downhill. For whatever crazy reason, people have absolutely NO CLUE about the Evo, its heritage, or what it's capable of doing, and they somehow have the idea that intakes and BOVs are the best mods. I'm glad you're here to find out stuff first; that's a good thing. I was just pointing out your statement as a glaring testament to why we've been having so much trouble with newbies lately. If you do your research and pay attention, you will be a well-informed Evo owner before you make your purchase, which is a good thing.

Fair warning, though, just don't ask a bunch of extremely simple newbie questions like "isn't the BOV just for sound?" YOu can find everything you need to know by reading the thousands of threads related to that topic (or just about any other topic). Once you find your information, formulate a specific question that wasn't directly answered, then we'll be glad to help.
