knocking noise

knocking noise

Today i was driving my evo and now i hear a knocking noise. It sounds like its coming from the left front wheel area. it does it when i turn or hit a bump. It sounds like something is loose. pls help me find out what the problem is

i did and dont see anything wrong. i just dont know. i checked a few bolts and felt if anything was loose. just dont know what it can be

Is it definately a chassis noise? It could be a shock or a bad axle have you launched the car alot

Did you try the front axles to see if u-joints, or cv joints are good. Sorry don't know which is on EVO. Make sure there isn't any slop if you rotate them. There should be a little rotation but not much.

no not really launched the car. only like 5 times the most since i owned it. but now the noise it is just pissin me off

I had a strut come loose in a cartridge that made a knock sound but man that was extreme. Some things may be hard to tell if they are loose when the suspension is loaded. If you can jack it up since your response earlier didn't make it sound like you did.

check your motor mounts make sure they are tight. or that it has not wallowed out the bushing. This has happened before on the front bushing.

also check the sway bar endlinks. maybe take off the bolt on the bar and see if there is any play or movement.

And lastly check the strut top of the strut to make sure its tight.

Also see if you can recreate the sound by pushing down on the car or bouncing on the front. if you can then i would guess shock.
