TSB for Temperature Control Problems
TSB for Temperature Control Problems
My temp knob turns, but I don't feel the internals moving like they used to. I read how one of the first steps is to remove the knobs and unscrew the two screws, but then what? What do I look for and is it an easy fix after that?
I did a search and two threads mention a Technical Service Bulletin for temperature control issues. Does a TSB allow a car to be repaired for free similar to a recall or is it more like a quick announcement to dealers when
discovers that a bunch of the same cars are having similar problems? My car has 62K on it so I am well past warranty. I had good relations with my dealer (Cub Shaver in Illinois), but they went out of business. I doubt a new dealer would give me any kind of courtesy repair.
It's cold here in Chicago and it's time to fix the heat!

Generally, a TSB makes no provision for a free repair beyond the new car warranty period. Sometimes manufacturers will do a service campaign if the problem would cause catastrophic failure or massive customer ill will.
