Word, there's some crazy random emission checks in CA and TX.

If it was 5hp no one would run a test pipe. Its most defintely more.

Don't bother on buying a test pipe from a vendor, i believe a test pipe runs about $100-$120, that is outrageously expensive. My buddy and i made our own, we bought some 3" pipe from a local muffler shop for $6 and that was for a 24" piece, then he made his own flanges( he is a tool and die journeyman) but still, you can buy flanges from Vibrant for about $30 dollars, so in conclusion we made a test pipe for $6, and even if you wanna make a cat just weld flanges on to the ends of a cat, don't **** your money away on stuff you could make for 1/20 the cost

TURBO TIL YA DIE

And yes i agree it is worth more than just 5hp

I definitely feel a different running test pipe comparing to stock cat but not sure about the different to BR hiflow cat. But most important thing for me to run the test pipe is because I run C16 which is leaded gas at the track. You need testpipe to run leaded gas or your cat will got choke up soon.

I read a lot. David Buschur wrote this after dyno testing:

"I then put the offroad pipe in and was expecting a ton. Well guess what folks?! The gain isn't worth pulling the factory cat out for and risking running without it. From what I can tell by laying quite a few runs over each other you might be talking about, at best, and only in parts of the runs 7 whp. Peak power was completely unchanged. Very-very good stock cat on the car from what this is telling me."

He also took back that statement when he realized some parts he got gains fromon the one car and didnt get them on the second. Remember when he put the stock cat back on and lost 30whp?

i know a couple of friends of mine here that have gotten tickets recently for running test pipes. northern va now has county "sniffer buses". they basically detect the emissions a car puts out from like 150 feet away.

Yup, just as I said in the beginning. I knew it wasnt "like 20whp" as people posted earlier in this very thread.

Even at $6 a test pipe may turn out to be the most expensive mod to date if you get busted. Its not worth it IMO to run catless even at 20whp on the street. Swap it out for track days if need be but otherwise run a high flow cat.

Bullisht. They can't prove who has the dirty exhaust from 150 feet away. You can just blame it on any other car in the vicinity.

CA has road side emissions monitoring 'stings' and they operate like red light cameras. I have seen them at freeway onramps. More like 10 feet distance though.

As a sidenote I have never seen a citation issued or talked about online. But thats just a judges signature and more real world testing away Im sure.

I am Native American, and I am offended that you would refer to me with a racially derogatory slur.
