People are still paying 22-23k for 03s, so I think that beautiful 05 EB could have sold to a private party quickly for a cool 25k. Oh well, I'm sure you're happy with the MR now...

Congrats. Don't forget you didn't pay tax on the trade in so that's an extra $2,000 (you only pay tax on the amount above the trade) and you didn't have to wait around and have a bunch of punks come test drive your car before you got a real buyer. Time is money. Again congrats. I'm jealous.

Are you serious or just doing this for effect? If you can get 27.5k on a trade-in that is worth far less than that, then turn around and get that same dealer to give you a brand new IX MR for $1,000 below INVOICE, then why would you even hesitate? The dealer would be taking a big hit on both sides of the equation, which is the opposite of what 99% of them do. In that situation, your payment shouldn't go up by $100/month unless you just recently bought that 05.

I am dead serious, i am 30 years old w/nothing to gain by lying ....i have the paperwork in front of me to sleep on it.....it is only 100 bucks more..but to me the point is , is it necessary...i know the 9 is putting down good numbers, and has a killer new interior......but..is it worth starting over after 9 months of payments i have into the 05gsr....and i get to keep all my parts which i can trasfer over ..such as volk ce28's...cusco zero2r's...etc...

No, my point is there shouldn't be such a large increase in payment, especially if you've already been paying for 9 months. My 36k MR is down to under 29k payoff after a year, so if I sold for 29k and bought a new IX for 36k, my payments would be the same. You are talking about having a dealer paying you more than your car is worth and giving you a very hot and highly sought after IX MR for 3k less than MSRP, which is 1k less than invoice when they could sell one at invoice to anyone else in a heartbeat and without taking a loss on the trade-in. They can't sell a used 05 non-MR for more than 27.5k when they are selling IXs for 1k under invoice brand new, so they are taking a loss on both sides for you to upgrade your car.

i hear what you are sying...tomorrow is the last day of the year..they might be doing a stupid trade to move a unit..take a loss , but you know the dealsership makes it up in other places.......im looking at the paperwork and the math..i see how it is......i only owe $8500 on my 05 gsr.....im trying to figure out the glitch.....i see my finance rate is 5.99..perhaps that has something to do with it.......non-the-less the 100 more will not kill me...its only a question of its worth it....i guess thats for me to decide..

Haha, you owe 8500 and are getting 27500 for it, which leaves 19k towards the 33.7+ttl. Since you are trading in for only a 6k difference, taxes shouldn't be more than $500, so your OTD is maybe 34.5k-19k = 15.5k financed at 5.99% for 5yrs/60mos = $299.59/mo. So, your current payment is only $200/mo or do you use a different loan term?

Sounds like a smoking deal. I don't see a glitch. If you finance through Mitsu, they only make $2500 off of that. I still don't understand why they'd take it up the *** for you on both sides when they won't be able to sell your 05 for any profit and won't make anything on the MR other than whatever kickbacks they get. It might be one of these super-rare deals.

So, you financed 9800 on your 05...was the down payment more than 19k?
