Is there a need for the Evo X?

wasn't that car built with SEMA in mind??????
So with all the "upgrades" and proven Evo technology, it was easy for them to
push the design and "what your Eclipse could look like". IMO I don't think, they put that car together to give just cause for another production car that is on the same performance scale as the Evolution. $$$ and marketing wise it would not be smart to do so. I do agree it is a nice car. Love all the parts and it does seem to be a good looking coupe. Too many non-mitsu parts, so for production, if it were to happen, would be under 300hp. I like my four doors, and and the tunk. Both key components in my book. And like someone else said....there are plenty of 2 door sports cars out there already. It would take the prestige down from the evo, if they started sharing the drivetrain. That's my 2cents

2 or 4 doors
I could not own the Eclipse becuase I need 4 doors for my kids. If I was single, I would have no problem taking this car over my EVO 8.
My old car was a '96 Eclipse with AWD and 225HP. So much fun in the snow!

1st off the Evo is a "rally inspired road car". It’s a car you can jump in to no matter what the weather and know you are going to get to your destination with out worries.
Remember the Evo just want to go fast all the time and it does. Because that what it was built for. The Evo X is the next in line to rock Rally Inspired Road Car world.
As a DSM and former Third Generation Eclipse owner, I can tell you enough interest was generated when they did away with the GSX and it big brother VR-4. There where many die-hard Mitsubishi enthusiasts became P!$$#D off by that irrational move. The 3G Eclipse became the stepchild in the DSM community. When I traded my 2003 Eclipse GT and my 99 Eclipse GS-T for my Evo IX even the deal said the GS-T is sold all ready. They gave me $16,500. For both cars and keep in mind the 03 had just under 30k miles on it.
On the break down for the year the 99 held it value better. (That kinda sends a message)
They need to get rid of that heavy, slow, 3.8 V6 GT and bring this new “AWD, 6spd, 2.0 Turbo” GSX to the dealers and sell some car again.
How about a two seater, sporting 400 HP, and slap VR-4 on it?

is that really what the production version would look like. becuase that's a really nice car. i doubt we will see this... or any country will see this for taht matter. and what's wrong with the evo... why don't they make a ralliart production evo? i don't know.
At least the Eclipse concept has an actual manual tranny rather than the paddle shifting nonesence that has been proposed for the Evo X.
I'd really miss the experience of rowing through the gears regardless of whether the shifts were slightly faster with the F1 style shifting.
