Pit Pass attempted rape....

Did anyone actually sign up for the pitpass? They were trying to bend me over for $999 for the cheaper one...7 oilchanges and 7 tire rotations.....(o ya.. and the 27 point inspection)...blaaa

$142.72 per visit........ this is a mitsubishi, not a porsche that holds 18 qts of oil.

Just checking to see if my dealer was trying to make a few extra $ on me.

I got a pit pass with my negotiated price. I got the nicer 9 oil change/rotation, 15k service, and 30k service pass. That covers the car until the warranty expires. Normally I like to do stuff like that myself, but I don't want to play any warranty games with this car.

My best guess as to the actual "dealer retail" (if I were to go to the service counter and buy all the services separately) value of that much service is probably somewhere at least $1,000. That assumes $50 for each oil change, $200 for the 15k, and $300 for the 30k. That's my low-end guess.

I know I could do the oil for about 20-25 myself ($4 a quart and $4 filter) and the 15k and 30k can't cost too much more since it's mostly "inspection" stuff. But figure on a new air filter, fuel filter, plugs, etc. So maybe an "actual retail" of like $400 for the nicer pit pass?

You could always call the dealer and ask them the price on the oil/rotation and see if it's $142 a visit. That does sound quite high, though.

EDIT: FWIW, I think my final order had a $2,495 price tag on the pit pass. But I know that I wouldn't have gotten 2.5k off the car if I didn't take the pass.

My dealer won't allow it. They say it would be cheaper paying each time you went to the dealer.

My dealer offers the "Pit Pass" but suggested I purchase their own maintenance program. They change the oil every 3,000 miles (pit pass is every 5k), tire rotation, inspections, etc. and it's for 75,000 miles or 5 years. Cost ($750.00), Sold!

Silencer...

That’s approximately $30/service. Sounds like they’re just quoting their “normal” maintenance package they offer for all vehicles w/o taking into consideration that the EVO requires synthetic oil. Be careful on that “deal”, the numbers just don’t add up!

my dealer didn't even ask if I wanted it. they just assumed I don't want it. because at MSRP, pitpass isn't worth it for the dealer.

I talked it over completely with them including the price of "Mobil 1" and all of the special requirements of an EVO. Yes, the Sales Rep. figured the cost over the 5 year period and his response was: 1) The Dealer sells several different new manufacturer's cars and the program was set up based on the average maintenance of all makes and models. 2) They want to keep customer's return business so there is not a lot of profit built in an oil/inspection/rotation program. Between us, maybe corperate doesn't know about the increased cost associated with the EVO, being that it's new to the US. But given that in the last 3 years between me, my brother and my father we have bought/ leased 6 cars from this dealer. That should tell you how outstanding we think this dealer treats it's customers.

I never even heard of this pitpass.... what exactly is it? My dealer, Carmax in Kennesaw, GA, had a good price (under MSRP) but other tha that, they are clueless and the service manager acts like a crook. Gave me all kinds of song and dance about "has to come back her for the first oil change" and then quoted me $120 for the oil change What!!?!

Wow, I dunno what your dealers are doing to you, but my dealer told me the PitPass prices are set my Mitsubishi, so they can't do anything about it (I tried to haggle).

I was sold on the 7 oil changes/7 tire rotations for $490 or something like that. I don't think it's a bad investment at all, personally. Plus I'm in school still, and with midterms here and there all the time it's easier to just drop it off, get it done real quick and leave the lot in a jiffy.

I just spoke with Carmax.... They do not offer any such deal as a service plan..... I also asked them about an alarm (that's another thread, but what the hell...) They sell the Lojack and offered to sell me one of those with an additional alarm for $799..... That's also very weird since another dealer said that they offered no dealer installed alarms and if I got an aftermarket one (Lowjack?) I would "void the warranty".....

Hi,

My dealership is not offering the pit pass period. Stated that is was not profitable enough. They did offer an extended warrenty for $1900 which I declined.
