04 Evo: Common Problems?

Hey Guys:

I am going to look at a 04 EVO RS this weekend. What are some common problems? Major problems? Problems you guys can deal with? Where is the best place to get these answers?

Any help is appreciated. Hopefully I can join the EVO community soon! Thanks.

I have had none. When it comes to problems with cars I believe it is just the luck of the draw. Owning the Evo I worry about the problems associated with people vandilizing, more than I worry about the car itself. It attracts alot of attention.

I have 47K and the stock clutch is holding like a champ. The only problems I'm having are:

1. sunroof is getting stuck when attempting to open and won't open at all.
2. When reversing, I'm getting a snapping/knocking sound coming from the back of the car.

My right side door handles are popping out a little. It's nothing serious, but it annoys me, so mitsu is replacing them for free this weekend.

I have that too and mine has 15k on it and I bought it with 8k and its done it since I bought the car (didnt notice until the morning after I bought it), it drives me nuts when I back up...Any ideas? I think I will take it to the dealer and see what they think...hopefully it can be a warranty issue?

Nothing serious..

The paint sucks ;p.

I have 28k miles and my clutch seems to be doing fine. Although when I reverse and brake sometimes they squeak.
