hi you evo geeks!
I wan´t a 4wd car with some muscle. The EVO is the first choice to me but I´m also interested in impreza. However I think the Evo is alot more coole car.
I live in Iceland and I dont know a lot about them, never driven one and dont know anyone who has an EVO. You dont often see them on the streets here. So the thing is, I have to import it from the US and I won´t get a chance to test it or even look at it with my own eyes until it is in my parking lot. therefore i´d like to know, how relyable are those cars? I mean, engine trouble and such? I don't have the money to buy the 06 so I will have to buy it used 04-05. and I know the EVO is one of the aftermarkets favorite, isn´t it kind of a lottery to buy a modified ride?
anyways, I just thougt you guys could maybe give me some good advise.

come on, you gotta know... I have been reading the table lately, and to me,it seem's like you're getting an awful lot of engine and drivetrain trouble. is it just because of abuse?

I wouldn't buy a used EVO unseen. You're just asking for trouble. I know of many cars traded in or sold as stock that were far from it until just before being traded or sold. As far as reliabilty goes, the higher the whp, the lower the reliability. That being said, I have almost 60k miles on an 11 second daily driver and have only done basic maintenance with the exception of upgrading the clutch and at the whp I have, even that is probably basic maintenance. I traded a WRX in for the EVO that had 73k miles and a few mods and had no trouble with it either.
