Yes this will sound St$%id to some, but to all 8 owners who now have 9's and can hear like no other;
does the 9 have more of a gurggling type of noise than the 8. I dont know how to describe it but my 8 sounded smoother than my new 9 between 1500 to 4000 RPM. Plus I cant hear the turbo spool as easily as I did on my 8.

If anyone can chime in on this please let me know. It might be something for me to worry about that I can resolve now b4 it turns into something bigger

yes, it's the mivec cam i believe. i hear it up at like 5 ish

 

I noticed this too. Seems to be more engine noise in the 9s. Probably has something to do with MIVEC.

 

yes lots of valve train noise i have a friend with an 8 he pointed out how much louder the 9 is than the 8

 

yup and becides its a typical DSM they all have noisey valvetrain. it could be worse, you could have a terrible disease called VTEC.

Someone I know really well has the HKS intake... no problems hearing turbo spooling and stock BOV is pretty loud if thats what your after. I hear a noise even at idle, thought it was a fuel pump.

 

 

personally i like all the valvetrain noise in the 9. It makes it sound more like a traditional sports car.

All I was wondering if the engine noise on the 9 that has that light diesl sort of gurgle type niose compared to the 8 I used to have, is normal. Seems to be from what people are saying so I feel better now instead of thinking it might be something else. I do miss that turbo spool noise on the 8 that I use to hear easily though

 

That thing is loud! The first time I heard it, I thought something was wrong with the car lol.

 

Ya I thought something was wrong too. I read that the IX had more sound deadening thus I thought something was wrong i.e. exhaust leak or something since I couldnt hear the turbo spool as easily as I could on my 8

yeah it's quite a bit louder... I thought it was just from my car being an RS
