Upgading from DSM to Evo, first mods what do you think?

First of Hi to everyone I am pretty much new to the forum I have been looking around for the last few months and reading as much as I can. I am selling my 97 GSX w/300awhp in the next couple months and I will be upgrading to a Evo. I will have some left over money after I buy it and I have planned out some mods. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for the help. My plans are for now to max out the stock turbo and get comfortable with it and take a driving class. Then in the future I plan to upgrade to something like a GT35.

Buschur Racing 3" TBE w/cat and Magnaflow Muffler - $895
(seems like the best for the money $200 less than Perrin and AMS, also I want the best flowing, quit exhaust I can get. I will be removing the stock spoiler and putting in Evo 7 taillights also, I want it to blend in a little more and not attract any extra attention from a very loud exhaust note.)

AMS FMIC w/U and L ICP and Tial BOV - $1,379
(I considered SBR and Buschur, but with Tial BOV and piping routing and core size on AMS it seems like best deal, it looks nasty on AMS 9.41 Evo Also)

HKS 272's $600
(I think should be best all around cam for stock turbo now and GT35 Later, if you have another choice let me know.)

ARP Head Studs - $95

Mitsu MLS HG - $98

Walbro 255 - $110

AMS Injectors 880cc - $400
(Are they big enough for GT35 later on, I think with right tune the car will idle like stock and mpg wont be bad, this will be my daily driver year round.)

I will need a FPR correct, what you recc, Bushur Kit for $400

Cam Gears? Are they worth the $$, does the AMS Evo run stock cam gears.

Which Clutch Exedy Twin Disc $1,600??

Manual Boost Controller (AMS) - $60

I havnt decided yet on Engine Managment. I dont want to use AFC. I like the AEM EMS and Power FC. If I get the Power FC for $1,200 it would do a speed density conversion and I could loose the stock MAF. Then I would just run a 3" intake pipe and cone. If I use stock MAF I will do a drop in K&N and recric the BOV. I think the speed density would be better in the long run for a GT35 in the future. I really just need help picking a EM and confirming all my mods choices will reach my goal of around 370awhp on stock turbo and be able to upgrade to a GT35 later on and not need new injectors and EM to work with it. Thanks and sorry it is so long I like to be thorough.

That is my other problem, spend around $26,500 for stock 05 VIII and do all the above right away or buy a 06 IX and dont do any mods for awhile. I am leaning towards the VIII but the new turbo and MIVEC heads sound great for the 9

You can save yourself the money that would have gone towards cams if you buy an IX instead of an VIII. Then again I'm sure any savings would be offset by the higher price of the IX. Good luck dude. Personally I would go with the IX, TBE, and an EcuTek flash at first. When those power levels get boring get the bigger injectors, a Walbro and send your turbo to Buschur so they can "20G-a-fy" it. I think 370whp wouldn't be far behind with a good tune. Good luck.

Ya I am not really sure if I want to spend $32,000 for a IX. I think I will end up buying a 8 cause it is a better deal for the money for me. Thanks for the input.

If you are sticking with a walbro 255 lph pump (even the high pressure varient) you can stick with the stock fuel lines, stock rail, and stock fuel pressure regulator.

If you don't plan to go speed density don't use the Tial BOV, it can not be re-circulated if you plan to stick with a mass airflow system. If you do switch to speed density the TIAL is the best on the market in my opinion.... I have a Tial on my Buschur Racing upper IC pipe.

Your plans sound pretty well thought out, and the plans look like they are geared towards getting an VIII. Have you thought about getting an VIII RS? If you plan on removing the wing anyway why not get a price savings by getting one that doesn't come with the wing from the factory?

most of the guys seem to be getting 1000cc's for the gt35r.

for clutch, I'd look at the tilton for the power and price range you're considering already.

as far as engine management, there's nothing quite as good as the aem ems in my opinion. and the GM solenoid is all you'll need for boost control if you get the AEM EMS.

my reco would be everything but the injectors for the stock turbo, then when you're ready to go big, get injectors and turbo kit. whatever you do, don't neglect the suspension and brakes, but you probably already know this from having a DSM.

Yup, looked like it was in good fun.... that is why nobody got a warning out of it

Reason I got ride of the pics was that someone other than you and Girlie may have become offended by the pics.

first off if your going with the ams fmic because how it looks on their race car...well thats their race fmic the normal fmic is quite a bit smaller(fits in the bumper cover without trim) i m not saying not to get the ams(i have their fmic on my ride) and if your looking at getting a lot of stuff from AMS go with their ehuast too, the extra money you spend on their exhuast will be the money you save on shipping from two or three different companies, this also goes if you decide to go with buschur or who ever. i have a few upgrades from AMS and i can safely say you wont be disappointed. oh and the cam gears do make a pretty good difference if you know what you are doing. glad to see you are making the jump from dsm to evo, i did a little over 2 years ago and haven't regreted it one bit.
