Maybe few of us in the PA, NJ, MD area can get together in the near future and compare the cars. I would like to try your tansmission and you mine.

As for a meet, let's do it! I have two kids, though, so it makes my schedule a little crazy to work around. I'm sure we can work something up, though. Ever down this way? I work just north of Baltimore, if that helps get us a little closer.
[edit]Sorry, I just realized at least the last part is significantly off topic. I'll PM instead.[/edit]

I understand that. The first time you check the oil, you figure it out.

My poorly worded statement
was noticing that there is a wide variety of opinions concerning shifting the transmission between EVO's. The opinions are of course relative to each drivers experience and I wonder how much of the perception is an actual difference in the transmissions and/or driver experience. I hope a few of us will be getting together in the next couple of weeks and get a hands on idea of the differences being noted.Speedlimit.........
I will switch back to Mobil 1 at about 7-9000 miles. When I say that the upshift 1-2 grinds, Im talking about full gas redline-let off gas- engauge clutch-shift technique. No powershifting. There's been times when the gear drops in normal, but a few times she was crunching and grinding. Oh, one more thing I forgot was the crappy mileage. I seriously need to have a one-on-one with my EVO, I think she isn't aware of the gas price curently
. Its the price one pays for a high strung automobile

Well, at least we can powershift our cars unlike WRX.
Can you define powershift for me? Maybe I'm not realizing what this is.
Really it's simple though. It is basically leaving the pedal to the floor, pulling shifter and engage/diengage clutch as fast as possible.
Basically keep it WOT while shifting. Don't listen to bs like not using the clutch. Those are drag trans with syncro removed. Still I advise using the clutch with those trans. The trick is to shift asap, Usually takes up 400 rpms if done extrememly quickly. For example if i powershifted from 1-2 @6500 RPM's as soon as i depress the clutch shift and engauge the clutch hopefully i could do it at around 68-6900 rpms. If your a slow shifter or miss a gear, over-rev is likely but once done correctly i've gained 2 tenth off my ET on the drag with my mustang.
TO put it short your dumping it at near redline everytime you shift to cover the time it takes to shift. Very consisant times for braket racing.
. Not that heathy for the trans, then again my Mustang GT handled 100 passes shifting like that and was still running fine.
**Just read the post above mine. has pictures to illustrate and everything

Ahh, this trans shifts slow and doesn't like to be rushed. I also wished they will make a hurst shifter for our cars. I've never missed a gear on a Hurst yet!

If you use mineral oil during your break in period make sure you change it before 1500 miles. Reason Mitsu choose Mobil 1 was to protect from turbo coking and to reduce oil change frequency requirement. Mineral oil will be okay but you have to change the oil much more frequently. Becareful, If damage to turbo is found to be oil related the repair is not covered under warranty... In fact, Mitsu even had the EPA certifiy the engine to REQUIRE (not just recommend) Fully Syntheic oil.
