Would you help a potential Evo buyer out if they are in your area? *Poll*

I was curious to see the percentage of Evo owners who would take a few hours of their day out to go with a potential buyer and help evaluate the condition of the used car that they are planning to buy. For example, when I am purchasing my Evo this summer, it will most likely be in Tennessee, Massachusets or Cali. I love the Evo, but though I might be able to tell you some of the signs of an abused car, I don't know what a problem would feel like the same way that someone who has owned the car already would. Of course I know what a problem with my Accord would feel like (though it is an Accord, so problems are few and far between), but that's about as far as it gets. On top of that, there are numerous other aspects that one should examine when buying a car. I guess it also helps if the Evo owner has a bit of a mechanical background, but I'm guessing that's fairly common due to the nature of the owners of a car like this. Again I want to stress that this is obviously with regards to used Evos.

So, would you take a bit of time out of your day to help someone who was genuinely ready to buy an Evo? Just to help another enthusiast?

P.S. I sincerely apologize for the quality of my english, which seems to be deteriorating rapidly >.<

Agreed. I'd probably take em out to celebrate

The nice thing about owning a car like the Evo is that it really seems to draw a group of people that aren't in that elitist mindset, but rather are really eager to help out people who are as into these great cars as they are. It's gonna be cool yet sad at the same time to own one in Toronto because I might see another evo once every 6 months

Well, at a guess most people would say yes. However, it would be down to circumstances though. I mean there are plenty of guys out there who are more knowledgable the myself (and this applies to everybody, IMHO), so it is not out of the realms of possibility that i will miss something. If it's somebody who understands that i'm there to offer any help i can, then yes. but if it's somebody who will harass me if the car turns out to have a fault that i didn't notice/couldn't have noticed then i'd rather not bother.
If somebody is trying hard enough to hide a problem/fault with the car, it's not going to be easy to spot if you don't have a lot of time. Having an extra pair of more experienced eyes sure help, but it might not be 100% fool proof.

Could you have made the choices any worse? I wouldn't help someone out, simply because I wouldn't want to feel like I gave the car a seal of approval. Take any car you are considering to a trusted mechanic. They can see if their are any major problems. Just cause I drive one doesn't mean that I can tell everything.

agreed, but unless you're doin installs for all the locals, or something like that, asking an owner to look at one with you, doesn't make you a mechanic. you're simply another set of eyes, and if you've done any wrenching, you'd know kinda some shortcuts where things would/could be wrong.

Making people happy is the best feeling one could get and the evo can't do any wrong with that.

838: I understand where you're coming from on that. Hopefully the person who requests your assistance isn't a complete dick like that. I personally would never do that, and I don't expect the person who comes out to help me to be a car mechanic, but I personally don't know how a clutch that is slipping feels, etc. etc. that type of thing. I would be grateful regardless because if something goes wrong, I won't blame anyone but myself and/or the car haha.

Wize: It was bound to happen that someone make a snide remark like that. I do apologize for the poor poll selections because it does kind of seem like I'm pulling some kind of guilt trip on anyone who votes no, but dude you're a *****... Just because you go and help someone out doesn't mean you're bound to a contract stating that anything that goes wrong with the car is your fault....

nb: thanks I will remember your name My Dad also lives in Nashville so I will be very close by! Let me know if you see any nice ones around for sale! BTW are you korean??? Maybe it's because I'm using a Japanese comp but your car says "Evo" in korean o.0
