I dont think we're supposed to 'feel' the difference at normal speeds. Keep in mind your car was designed with wrc in mind. If you're seen it in action then you know why the wet/dry, etc option is included.

if you really want to feel how it works ... on second thought I wont suggest anything. Just know that it works. Always drive carefully, more so when on the roads, in any weather.

i do when i'm driving a bit more spirited when it's rainy, more as a safety measure than an i actually notice a difference measure. i've played around quite a bit and in snow when it's easy to lose traction it's easy to notice the difference between all 3 modes, snow being the best for actually driving where you want to go safely, tarmac being the most fun

Moderate rain on a 65+ second autocross course on sealed asphalt. Tires were 245/35/18 Kumho V710's.

First run was 63+ seconds using the tarmac setting.

2nd run was 60+ seconds using the gravel setting.

3+ second improvement. I did not really feel any difference but i just went faster.

In other words, it really works. (And I won the class)

I use it in the rain and never noticed if it was helping until the other night when I pressed it while accelerating in the rain. I did feel something, a small thud I guess, so at least I know it controls more then that little green light on the dash.

used once in the snow. I had my Advants on so it was like driving on ice even with the ACD on snow. I used the gravel once in the rain and it felt like it was harder to bring the rear end around than on tarmac

+1 ... you are correct, every subsequent mode after Tarmac, improves stability (induces more understeer) under slippery conditions. Therefore it keeps the car more predictable when road conditions change(you won't notice the difference)... thus making you faster ...

I switch it to gravel whenever it rains. Don't notice difference, but I don't corner hard in rain. Come to think of it, I rarely corner hard when it's not raining. I'm not sure why I even bought an Evo.

I can't believe some of you guys never touch the ACD. It's so damn cool, if I had it I'd be switiching to gravel if I saw a couple rocks on the road, for no reason other than to amuse myself.

Gravel is the setting designed for wet or loose roads. In this setting, the ACD will delay in freeing the center differential for a moment (possibly 2-3 seconds).
therefore, it'll stay locked a touch longer before opening up on a turn. (more power still to the rear = oversteer)

good link though, i forgot it was on here

Yeah, really. You already get more understeer under poor traction conditions.

I'm too tired to do a physics project, but I have noticed it is easier to spin the car in gravel and snow mode. I definitely think you get more oversteer, not understeer.
