Thanks, I don't even own an Evo, but I'm pretty big with the motors

I'll be keeping you guys updated with pictures on how it's progressing, it'll be at my house tomorrow, and my buddy is coming to check out the damage!

Good luck, I sure hope your friend who works in a body shop is one of the old guys with years behind him, rather than a guy who worked his way up from washing cars recently.

That to me looks like a textbook total, anything can be fixed, but IMO i would pull the plug on that one given the chance. Hope everything works out in the end

I had a similar accident in my 04 Evo -- except a 16 yr old kid ran into me. He hit the front left side of the car and proceeded to push me across 3 lanes of traffic. Both air bags deployed, turbo was siezed, transmission was hosed (only 1st and reverse sort of worked -- took some work to get them into gear), IC and IC piping smashed, the whole frame of the car was twisted - needless to say the insurance writers totaled the car. They stopped writing when the car was estimated at 27K in damage. It didn't look nearly as bad as that but our car parts are not exactly cheap.

To give you an idea -- the steering wheel is 1,600 -- the driver side airbag is close to 1000.
I'm glad your friend is ok -- I wish him luck in the insurance battle.
