Haha, good laugh, who knows, but I highly doubt it. Do you know how many police officers would lose their jobs, plus it's just stupid and you can't control human nature.

Wow, that would be tough to deal with. I see nothing dangerous or wrong about driving 5-10 over the limit. In areas where the limit is 25, 30, or 35 I usaully stay within a few miles per hour. But when the limit is 40 or more I usually drive 10 over. I have passed by many a cop going 10 sometimes 15 over and not been pulled over. Maybe they didn't have there radar on sometimes, who knows. I don't think 10-15 over bothers them unless your in a residential area. I got pulled over twice in the same week, by the same cop, going 15 over in 35 both times. Also didn't have my license on me either time, and he let me go boths times.

I figured this. I agree with 3000ways. What will cops do now??? The states make alot of cash for speeding ticket along with whatever violations that the cops find when they pull you over. Cops wouldnt have any reason to hang out at the side of the road anymore and would lose there jobs.

I agree with 8urv8 because everytime I see a cop I slow down to within 10-15 of the speed limit and they always happen to pass me up and just stare at me like I am an idiot. And I don't think that will pass here in because cops like to do at least 20 over the speed limit on their slow days, well at least here in Vegas they do.

Imagine being on the track, and running the 1/4 mile and you get beamed by one of those things, and it hits you as you hit your trap, say the AMS EVO, getting a ticket for running the 1/4 mile, and the next day the cops are pounding on his door, UUMMM sir our satellite shows you were doing 145 last nite. And then get cuffed, that would be pretty retarded

oh jeez this would never fly here in the USA (thats why i love this country!) but i remember reading about an OBD setup for cars that can inform the dealer about a problem with the car in real time and the article was saying something about how even law enforcement could check out the datalog to see how fast you went....

i read it waaaay back but you get the jist.....

Never say never. And even though I speed it doesn't make it right. Everyone here probly assume's they are a safe driver just like everyone else who gets behind a wheel. But thousands of accidents a year obviously tell us that we aren't all safe drivers. Speed reduces your reation time and handling of an emergency situation. I'm sure we've all seen the outcome of what happens when a person loses control of their car at high speed. And it isn't always the fault of the driver. A loose nail on the highway that enters your tire at 85 mph can be deadly...even if the driver is the best one on the planet. Think about that when you decide that "ten over will be okay" when you head into work tomorrow.

The biggest issue that that article fails to actually examine, is that the current speed limits were set back when vehicles safety/braking technology was light-years behind....You cant possibly say that the vehicles from 1960 weighting 4000-5000 at 55mph can stop just as fast(distance) as a vehicle made 2006. Also with the advent of the safety air bags, traction control, stability controls should probably increase that speed limit by quiet a lot.

I really think that US/Canada regulation should incorporate what is being done in Europe.... Safety Vehicles inspection yearly...to weeed out the vehicles with safety concerns and mechanical failures. Those vehicles with braking issues/suspensions are the ones that crate bigger issues then someone who is travelling at the higher rate of speed, but has a superiour vehicle.

While I agree cars perform at much higher standards than they used to, the flip side of that is drivers in the 50's didn't have cell phones, TV's, and Ipods to distract them while in the car. I don't think your average driver these days pays as much attention to the road as they should.

Maybe instead of trying to slow us down, they should shield new cars with cell phone signal blocking material.

Another thing I was thinking about is what happens when you need to accelerate past the speed limit to avoid an accident? I know some people will say you should brake not accelerate to avoid an accident but, you never know.

seems to far out there. part of a cops job is to judge the situation, think if cops never gave warnings. the courts would be flooded with 5-9mph over tickets. not to say it wont be tested. commercial rigs could use it, but peoples private cars doubt it.

photo radar and photo red light is pushing it. i understand it when they are there in school zones and high vehical and pedestrian traffic.

This is why I don't opt for dealer installed GPS

This will not happen - maybe in Ottowa and regions of long stretch highway, but not in most, well populated areas.
The gov't can't even get trucks to switch over to lower emissions diesel.

If I am wrong, time to go with a stand alone system and turn off my cell phone.

second that Worf. safety inspections should be rolled up with emmissions testing, and be done every 2-3 years. yearly is excessive unless you drive a jollopy.
