not if you go full coilover and i believe you could get a 6-speed in an SSL GSR and it sounds like that's what you're after. also, the roof aids in handling as the aluminum one provides the entire car with a lower center of gravity. how noticeable it would be, if any, i don't know.

Handling is more than satisfactory to in an EVO with a steel roof. Remember what I am coming from, 2003 Acura TL Type S. BTW, the TL is staying in the family. Too many mods and work went into her to let her go.

totally agree with you, i only went with an MR for the 6-speed and not having to upgrade suspension or wheels.

thanks, I think I made my decision. Gonna call the GM in the morning and tell him to forget about the MR, I really want a GSR with a 6-speed w/ SSL. Like I said, I will compensate for a heavier roof by going on a diet! 5"9 @ 235lbs. =(

I'll update you guys on how it turns out.

Oh, and is the Vortex Generator worth the extra cash?

More replies are welcome even though I came to a decision. Any common annoyances besides rattles? and noise levels?

how much is it for the six speed in the gsr IX, the dealership told me it wasn't possible since the cars come standard the way they are but i guess if you have the money, power to you, i like the IX just fine, i could use another gear but i',m happy...good luck with everything bro.

Thanks man, I'm not sure if they can do that but I still have to wait to call the GM. If they were able to promise me an MR with SSL, I'm pretty sure they can get a 6-speed into a GSR if they were totally serious about it in the first place.

i'd say they're talking out their ***.

theres three versions, and only one, the base 8, can you get SSL.

the MR, already comes with HID's.

Best of luck on the purchase..

btw: for the people trapping in the middle teens, you DO need to shift with the MR, as you'd run out gear about 108, forcing a shift to 5th in the MR.

Ok, I called the GM and he said the GSR cannot be outfitted with a six speed but somehow they can get the MR with SSL. I told him that I would like it in writing that all parts are genuine mitsubishi and installed properly, no sunroof on an aluminum roof because it wont be structurally sound were my exact words. Figures are going down tomorrow!!

So its the MR with "SSL". Another question, since the MR comes stock with a little plethora or guages, I wanted to install DEFi guages in their place and remount them. Is that possible as far as wiring is concerned or is there some technical difficulty that I am not aware of?

yeah, you need a gauge mount, as the stock gauges are way smaller than the common aftermarket ones.

Go to the mitsu website and try to configure the car that way. If you can't...then that means it is not available. The crap that dealer is telling you is just that. I was in sales, and my managers would always advise me to tell customers that "the sunroof is oem" . But in reality we sent the car out to an aftermarket company that would install them, along with other things such as heated seats, leather...etc. Good luck. Be careful, don't let them cut a hole in your MR's roof!.

The sunroof is NOT OEM on an IX MR- period. It Any sunroof on an MR will be a Dealer installed option - not good with an aluminum roof.

Works make springs for the MR that is the only company that i can think of off the top of my head.
