If you're ultimately really wanting the IX, there's really no sense in waiting 5 months until July to pay off the $13k you owe on the VIII. You might as well unload the 8 now and put that $13k into paying for the 9 over the next few months.

 

The first two options are okay, but the third one is just a waste of time and money.

dude, i totally feel your pain. my situation is a bit different as i got my 05 VIII RS at a steal and have been offered the same amount as a trade. however here in the SE no one wants to sell close to invoice so in the end i'm looking at about $7-8K after tax difference between the two. its really hard not to think about sticking that $7500 into modding the VIII. ultimately if you're going to go bananas in modding (built motor, ported head etc), then an VIII or IX doesn't matter. however, if your planning to stick with stock internals then you will definitely have an advantage with the IX turbo and mivec.

 

Mod the VIII and wait for the X.....
