Nope. Flash it.

If its an evo 7 then u need the ecutek flash. Look for Sean I (a member in here) he can perform the flash for the evo 7. A year ago I tried sending my ecu for a flash but they were unable to 'write' to it. I have an evo 7 also. Now with the ecutek flash, they can do models 5-9 so make sure its an ecutek flash.

Even if you install the SAFC, you may still want to flash up the factory boost levels, etc. If you install an intake you'll want a flash for sure.

Hope this helps.

SAFC or Flash, just two different tuning tools. The SAFC can work wonders despite its little limitations. If you want a primer on tuning, the SAFC is the way to go. Nothing wrong with it. IF you want a flash and forget it, then that could work for you as well.

Just make sure your tuner understands the differences in the fuel you will be using, compared with what is common in the US.
this would be a bigger concern than the climate change, which should be pretty well compensated for within the ecu.

I have a 7 and a boost controller. The controller wont get you past the max levels set on the factory ecu. A flash is required for that.

I have also sent my ecu (for evo VII) to a very reputable dealer in Cali abt march 05, before the ecutek was available and they called me saying that they can 'read' but could not 'write' anything to it. So it was sent back stock. Waste of time and money.

Once tuned everything was kinda ok with the stock ecu, but I decided to up my mods so that I can also up my boost levels. This is where the probs come in as my ecu was never flashed it cuts me down when boost gets too high. So if you get a higher octane or an alky kit ... you're gonna miss out without that flash.
