Evo IX MR daily driveability?
although I don't drive my IX MR daily, I do drive it 2 or three days out of the week. If you're looking for a true daily driver, then this is not the car to get. If you're looking for an adventure or been on a mission to and out of work, the Evo is perfect
i drive my VIII MR daily to work and everywhere in between, no complaints. even took it 14 hours to FL for vacation and back, i've got 24,000 miles on it and consider it a good DD. the stock advans are very loud compared to the BFG's i have now.
to each his own, one mans daily driver is another mines sore back. I personally drive my MR daily because its so much fun, I have 6k on her and I picked it up 2nd shipment to HB Mitsu.....its tolerable...but every time I jump into my Lexus I am reminded of the 'perfect' daily driver. Of course I cant hit 60 in 4 and pull .9g's either in the Lexus though (MR's modded, not stock). Daily driver? Sure, the MR can be that car if you dont mind tire noise and wind noise at above average.

The interior noise is loud compared to my VW R32, shifter is notchy, gas mileage is not that great and everyone is always trying to race or rev at me. Overall I have no regret in getting the EVO 9 MR. I just can't wait to break-in the motor and start moding

i have an 03 and i switched from lowered kyb's to the bilstein MRs and i love the MR suspension... I drive this thing daily, and have about 33k miles on it. after a long day of work (16+ hours), it's sometimes a chore to drive, because you always have to pay attention, but it's definitely a capable daily driver. the only questionable thing would be the road noise... between the loud advans and the lack of sound-deadenning, it can get pretty loud in the cabin. but it's all worth it!!!!
i have an 06 BR 350 9 # 005, best eveyday driver i have ever driven especially that i live in an area where most of the roads are smooth, quick, fast, smooth as glass great mpg and just a blast to drive everyday in any weather. i have winter tires and wheels on it from my 03 8
Most of my driving is in the city and I hate it. The gears are so short, that I got used to rarely going to 1st gear. I just start the car off 2nd gear most of the time now, except hills of course. Besides that, no complaints for the past 3.5k miles since 11.08.05
Kind of expensive to maintain (I have VIII). Synthetic oil, Brake jobs are pricey, eats tires, and aparently for most it goes through the clutch (I have 35k on the stocker
Other than oil changes, and tires, no extra expenses here. That is better than the 2 clutches and 2 transmissions that my WRX ate in 18k miles. On the other hand they were covered under warranty, something you will not often hear here
All and all it has been a trouble free car. Most of the problems you hear about in these cars are due to improper driving technique, Powershifting, Failing to rev match and Clutch dumping. I suppose this has nothing with an IX MR, just my experience with the VIII.
However, there are the issues that will cross over for all of us EVO drivers. These problems arise when you are dealing with the jerks, who for some reason view our cars as "RICE" and will take every advantage to try to Race, cut off, swerve at, and generally assult you because they think you are some sub-par human because you bought a goofy looking car with a big wing.
Just my .02

My IX MR's only a weekend car. However, I did drive it during the NYC transit strike into Manhattan. Though, it doesn't turn heads as much as the Continenal GT's that usually go down the diamond district, I was still greeted by a cop asking me if it was an Evolution. He gave me the
after I said yes.
I don't mind the harsh ride. I guess it's because I already had that set mentality that this isn't a luxury car to begin with. STi's the way to go if you still want that performance, but soft suspension and comfy seat. I always feel at home in the Evo's Recaros. I also have an MDX and it's just not the same; it just feels....odd.
I get the notchiness that people are saying, but that really depends on where you are. Usually happens if the weather's cold. After the tranny warms up, the notchiness is gone and it shifts very smooth.
I love it when people never expect a huge trunk.
~-EDIT-~
Asked two of my co-workers who sat in the back. They said it was fine. Go figure. I was expecting them to say harsh ride.
