Question on DP and Test pipe and Stock cat

Guys, I have a TBE installed in my IX right now. (Tanabe DP, UR test pipe and Apexi N1 catback). Im planning to put back my stock cat because I dont wanna get in trouble with the Police (california test pipes issues).

So my question is, should I also remove my DP? Would it be useless to run a DP and Cat back with stock cat? Or there are still gains with a DP but stock cat? Because if its useless, I will just put my stock DP also and just have a cat-back system.

I need opinions guys

Thanks!

What you can do is, make sure the downpipe and catback flanges, (where it meets the cat on either ends) have the same bolt pattern, (2bolts) as the factory cat has, you can widen those holes closer inwards on the downpipe end flange as well as the catback end flange and it'll bolt up to the stock cat without an issue. File them down with a heavy duty dremel of somesort approximately 2-3mm on each bolt hole. You will pass emissions as long as you have no CEL in memory or visually active and your o2 sensors are plugged in. HTH

I asked almost the same question a month ago.

In your case you could opt for a high flow cat to replace the test pipe.

If keeping the stock cat is absolutely necessary then I think you should keep the Tanabe DP and Apex cat back on the car. Buschur is doing exactly that with their BR330 if I remember correctly.

Oh I have noe problem connecting the Stock cat with the DP and Cat back, its fits. My question is the performance? WOuld the DP be useless if Im running a stock cat? Or there is still performance gains on a Tanabe DP with stock cat and Apex cat back? Because if the DP is useless with out a test pipe? meaning very kittle performance gain, I will just install my stock DP as well.

Thanks

I dont wanna buy a High flow cat anymore, I dont wanna spend anymore money with my car. Im having financial problems so, you mean its still ok to run an Aftermarket DP with stock cat? because it there is just so little gains I would rather sell the DP. But if your saying theres a big diff on running a Aftermarket DP with a stock cat, I would leave it there.

Thanks!
