02 Sensor wiring confusion
Ok so the o2 sensors on the car have 1 blue 1 white 2 black. the question is, how do you figure out which black is heater ground and heater power coming from the o2 sensor?
i can figure it out coming form the car b/c they are color coded better, but after the plug it changes. i cut my wires w/o paying attention to what went where so i got myself in a bad position.
any help?
Blue = Sensor
White = Ground
Black = Heater ?
Black = Heater ?
ones sensor and ones power, which is which?

but if anyone konw sthe answer before then, plz lemme know

What are you trying to accomplish? Last week I was playing with that wiring and I may help you. Anyway, you already cut the wiring and unless you use a multimeter it'll be hard to recognize them.
According to my notes this is how the wiring looks on the side of the O2 sensor plug:
--------
| 1 2 |
| 3 4 |
--------
1 = BLACK ---> heater ground
2 = BLACK ---> heater +12V
3 = WHITE ---> ground
4 = BLUE -----> O2 signal
If you're going to play with an O2 simulator, you need to cut the O2 signal (blue wire) and tap from the side going to the ECU. Voltage should be taken from the heater +12V wire (black 1), and ground should be taken either from the chassis or from the white wire, tapping ground from the heater ground (black 2) will throw code P0138 because the heater ground is constant only when the car is running, but not when the key is in AC position.
Good luck.

ok, yea i got dumb luck on my my side and i got it right the second time around. this was for the upstream 02. i didnt have any problems with the downstream. i switched that beast to a wideband 02 and it works great. thanks for your help
your diagram is what i was looking for.

Anybody have a diagram that shows you step by step how to wire this thing in here? Every diagram I find tells me something different and I REALLY dont want to start cutting wires wrong. Also, what is the best way to splice into the harness?
Wire what, an O2 simulator? If so I have some experience I can share, let me know if that's what you need.

i have the same problem before. there's noway to tell whihc black where. so just play with it, connect one bacl with other if it doesn't work switch it around. that's what i did.
