i went with the 20g-9 upgrade which is going on this week, i wouldn't trade my car for a 9 simply b/c cars are just going to get better every year. So when i go back to my "to do" list i can just put... built 2.3 and then larger turbo, case solved, now you don't have to get a new car, you can keep yours, spend the same amount it would cost to upgrade to a nine(maybe more) and run 10's in the 1/4 mile!

Your car's tight Miguel, but it all depends on what the difference will be in cost/payments with the IX. If it's with a dealer, then you know it's gonna go up, but the question is by how much. If you can afford it and really want it, go for it. But with that difference, you can keep your sweet ride and mod the hell out of it.

BUT, if you do decide to get the new front bumper for your VIII, or get rid of the car all together, let me know...I'll take that front lip off your hands along with a couple other parts!

Its street concepts, if i do get rid of the VIII, ill make sure you get the lip, i rather sell it locally than to ship it

Oh man, luv you bro! lol! Nah, appreciate it though for real.

Good luck with your decision. I know it's tough, but you'll come out on top either way!

remember the EVO IX is the last with 4G63. the new one the X will be focusing on a different market $$$. This is the first and the last EVO with 4G63 Mivec.

Just something to think about

I would crunch the numbers personally. To be honest I've thought alot about the same thing. I have a 05', but going down the road of: Stroker, Turbo, intake, shep/tre trans, clutch, AEM blah blah blah in essence 15k-20k for what? To run a low 10 second pass@135-140mph?

I bought this car for it's versatility not it's stairghtline speed. I could have kept my cobra and gone 10's a whole lot cheaper than this.

I'm thinking trade in and do the same, pull the trigger and say screw it, or go buy a car I love just looking at it, driving it, or racing it. Then this speed thing will start all over again won't it?

The big issue with the 9' is how long before a AEM or Hydra comes out for it? There is no guarantee that one will even be made because it is a 1 year run then your screwed if you ever want to go faster. Then I think the money I'll lose on the upgrade and even more on depriciation and interest I could put towards mods etc.

Then I find myself back at stage one. Hopefully my Poorboys SSR1 and SSR 2 come in today and I can go detail the car!! Fun Fun.....Good luck. I'll probably just keep my EVO I only owe 23k on it I don't want a bigger loan.....my house mtg is big enough.

I love the IX, but it just does not make any sence to trade in a great car and loose all that money to a dealer IMO.
