Good story about my car....read. :)

Ok, so I've had my Evo ever since August 05 and it has been bone stock since I bought it. Well unless you call an ACT clutch kit, BOV, and filter real mods. Anywayz, I finally decide to get something small for my car. I went up to Millenium AutoSports here in VA and picked up a TurboSmart MBC and Autometer boost gauge. Well last night I finally get around to putting the stuff in with the help of a fellow Evo owner. So for ****'s and giggles, we put the boost gauge on just to see where my Evo has been boosting at during it's current state. I bought my car used with 9k miles on it, and the car was previously slightly-modded. I took the car down the street and at WOT I only hit 11psi!! I was like WTF!!??!! I get back to my friend's place and he almost shat himself. So we do some small digging and he realizes that the boost T that branches off of the hose connected to the turbo nipple was on backwards. So the idiot that had the car before me had an MBC on it and put the car back to stock the wrong way. So I've been driving my car off of the wastegate pressure ever since I've had it. I always thought my car was sluggish for an Evo, but hell it was still faster than my previous 3g eclipse that was slow as hell. Anywayz, instead of putting on the T the right way, we just went ahead with the MBC install which has it's own boost T. Once we got everything on, we cranked it up to stock boost pressure and wholy **** it felt like my car had a secondary motor in it. I felt like a complete jackass after that. I should've gotten a boost gauge a long time ago. Now she's running strong at 20psi and I'm having a lot of fun with her. I even got revenge on a couple of lost races.

yeah on a side note, the turbo XS recirc valve is crap. at 21psi we blew the BOV OFF the IC pipe hose. The bov BARELY has anything to mount to. We torqued down the hose clamp as tight as we could and it held the 21, but I turned it back to stock just to be on the safe side.

just pretty please no matter what Millenium Autosports says.....DONT LET THEM ROAD TUNE YOUR CAR!!!

(they did mine before i bought it and ****ed it up beyond belief....cost me more to have it fixed from running lean and knocking from 2-8000 rpm!!!).....moral...let them tune their civics and integras...but not evo AEM EMS.)

just food for thought...sorry to go off topic.

glad to hear your car is 2x more enjoyable

I already know. They are complete tool bags when it comes to Evo's. And not even crafstman, like the wal-mart brand. He told me I was gonna blow my headgasket at 21psi and that I'll prolly hit boost cut before I get that far. AND he said we boost at 13 stock. I couldn't believe my ears. They started to bleed.

I will I will. Now all I need is a steering colum single gauge pod. It's ghetto mounted right now just to test the boost pressure. Then I'll be all set.

Well, fortunately, this is EvoM and not an English class. So thanks for the first have of your comment, the other half will be stricken from the court.

Sounds like a pleasant surprise. I wish I could just tinker under the hood for free and find that much HP!

Ha...the same thing happened to me. Drove around at 11psi for months without knowing it. Got boost gauge and freaked out. Well, atleast for me and you, our MBC feels like a freakin stage 4 upgrade!! Enjoy.....

Assassin, none of this would have ever happened if you'd get your *** on the DcEvoClub. We have a bunch of guys down there that would have helped you out a long time ago, haha.

I also wouldn't mess with any shop in the area that isn't already a vendor sponsor on the site. Most of the shops don't know jack about the Evo.
