That's a good question. did you only get 1 key from the dealer? or did you buy it used?

I am not sure about the immobilizer, however if you just want another physical (as in mechanical) key cut you can just go to the dealership and (have your VIN# and driver's license + registration ready) them cut you a new one for like $5.00

Here is how it works. You buy a new key and have it cut. We then take our scan tool and enable the system to read the new key and the old key, then the immobilizer will become active on that key.

Mitsu doesn not make a key blank for the EVO without an immobilizer chip in it.

I dont think a transponder key can be cut for $5.00. On mitsubishiparts.net the key alone is almost $25 (MR587430). I bought two keys off the website and now have a total of 4 working keys. What I did was I went down to the local locksmith who had a scantool, cut and program my two extra keys.

It won't affect the flash. One thing, what happened to the other key. Make sure he is not hiding it because he can steal your car back.

Don't panic dude. When you get the new key programmed the others keys will be locked out. They won't work anymore.

I say again, it doesn't matter if there are 10 guys with keys to your car. When you program the new keys it ELECTRONICALLY locks the other keys out. the only keys that will start the car are the ones that were programmed LAST.
