Just Weighed the EVO's...
Well me and my buddy Rich weighed the cars the other night and here goes... mine is a '06 GSR w/ssl and his is a '06 GSR w/ non ssl. We stop by the gas station which was only a mile away or so to make sure we were both filled to the brim and that the cars were identical other then options. Mine weighed in at 3360 on a full tank 100% stock and his weighed in at 3280 to 3300 teatering back and forth so I would guess since the scale goes in 20lbs incriments it would probably be 3290. I thought for sure my car would have been much heavier with all the so called "extras" you get ie. sunroof, leather, HID's, and that banging Infinity sound system
All in all I'm not to disappointed anymore now that I have seen it for my own eyes and that the additional 60 to 70 isn't so bad after all. But I really could do without the damn sunroof
Just some food for thought for anyone wondering what the weight differences might be...
Joe

These are the weights without us in the car. %100 bone stock on a full tank of gas. I had weighed the car 2 days prior but with about a quarter tank of gas and it weighed in at 3000lbs exactly so I guess the extra 3/4 of gas weighed in at 60lbs.

My 2003 weighs only 3130lbs "without" me in it. I have since went wingless, so take away that weight and I should be somewhere around 3120 maybe less.
I weigh 200lbs so 3320lbs with me in it.

I was working on a Carbon fiber Glass replacement for it but not sure if it will work..only because the weight of the glass I believe actually "seals" the sunroof from leaking.
I'd weld it in and paint over it if I could (which I very well could) but pointless I guess.
I never open it and haven't since I've owned it since NOV
hate sunroofs and the way they look.EVO should not be made w/ one IMO.I vinyl'd it in White just to get rid of the Blk hole up there so all you see is a blk seal around it.
Was your buddy's (Rich) car %100 stock? Did you guys have anything, I mean anything (ie junk, school books, etc), in your cars??

I'm talking right off the showroom floor. Literally for Rich's car because we went right to the weigh station from the dealership and my car is only a week old and it was exactly the way I picked it up from them. I'll say it again %100 bone stock the way it came from the dealer with no additional weight other then a full tank of gas.

It's not always about the total weight (in this case, total weight more than your friends' base car)...but rather, where that weight is located. I.E., having the sunroof on your car is a larger detriment to handling performance than say the added subwoofer because the sunroof is on the highest point of the car. Still, interesting to see the difference in weight between SSL\non SSL 06s.

Weighed my SE yesterday at STM:
- Stock SE BBS' with Hankook Evos
- No spare/jack
- About 12gal of fuel
- 20lb less rotational mass
- BR FMIC (+10lbs), Works exhaust (-20lbs), audio gear (+10lbs)
Weight shown on the scales = 3258lbs, ~61%/39% weight distribution.
