Is it worth upgrading to 05 evo?

With looming release of the EVO X (no official word yet but it's coming) and the availability of the EVO IX, is it even worth upgrading from an 03 to a brand new, leftover 05 EVO VIII? One main thing I'm really after is the 5 year bumper-to-bumper warranty and the 10 year powertrain warranty, but other than that is it worth it performance wise?

I think a better upgrade would be the IX. I would also upgrade, but I already put a lot of time and money into my car. I just cant justify it.

yea if your going to upgrade might as well go for the 9, if you go 8 you'll still be upgrading but it's not as drasitc that with the 9 in terms of mods thereafter.

I wouldnt upgrade unless you intend to keep the car bone stock. As far as the h/p its not worth upgradeing to a 05

Well that is my intention (as some have read in my previous posts) since I have my Miata to tinker with. The reason I'm considering an 05 is that I figure I can low ball a dealership into giving me a good price for one (figure 24k brandnew) and since my 03 is paid off, if they give me blue book (which is 22k or so) for it, I can make up the difference in cash.

If you like losing money on the depreciation, sure I'd do it. Otherwise I don't see much use of upgrading. The ACD "MIGHT" be benificial IF you do any type of road racing. Otherwise, what's the point?

Mainly the warranty for me. Extended warranty contracts usually run around $1500-$2000. If they can give me an 05 for 24k and they give me 22k for my car, I end up with a new EVO with FLSD, ACD and a new 5 year factory warranty for pretty much the price of buying an extended warranty contract.
