don't forget the whopping 162 ft-lbs of torque (and that's at 6800 RPM)!

it's still an amazing car. had i not moved from florida, i'd probably be rolling in an s2k - if my lanky *** body actually fit.

Who told you that... maybe the STI's but surely not the regular wrx's. The S2000 is a sexy *** car if you live Florida or some where its hot all year round, its a nice ride to have. I ran into one with a gt35 on and at 12psi that car gave me a real lesson about TOP END! Tough choice.

Thank you for all of the information provided, you are all helping me make my decision!!

Its going to be an Evo that i will buy, but first i need to find someone that wants to buy a 3rd Gen. Rx-7 that has all the go mod's you could ever want !!!!

Second i won't be able to afford a IX so i'm going to buy a VIII which doesn't bother me but the problem is, is finding one that has been treated well and is in the Ohio area!!

I want a 05 but will prolly have to settle for a 03-04.

I could buy a IX but i'd have to get a lil loan which isn't the problem, the insurance is what would kill me there. Since when i do buy a Evo i won't cover the car just have liability!

Evo = more passenger seats, for family or trashed friends
RWD is tricky in snow, and the evo has more trunk space

someone has prolly said all those but w/e lol

Just wanted to say that yes the evo is a good handler and feels good - it has a ton of grip. But the s2k is the better handler, its lighter on its feet. I suppose you could look at stock class soloII - the s2k is the better car in AS (the evo and sti just dont quite cut it) However the evo/sti are easier to go fast, it takes more skill to get the max out of the s2k.

^^no. the s2k is indeed a better autox car but that does not equate to "better handler". given equal tires, the evo probably has more ultimate grip and high speed stability. also, the s2k is not "lighter on its feet." if anything, the evo feels more nimble due to quicker steering rack and better steering feel.

in slow speed corners, a stock s2k will likely beat a stock evo...but there's more to handling than slow speed corners.

this is an evo forum so i can understand the bias. i drive my bro's s2k a lot, including norcal trips in excess of 1000 miles under 2 days, so i can pitch in a bit. yes the torque is weak, but the engine pulls stronger and stronger as it approaches redline (9k) so it's also fun. the car is so small and lower than evo, so it feels like the car's wrapped around the driver, and moves as one with the driver. the straightline ain't its forte, but take it to very very tight twiesties, and u'll have a smile dat u can't wipe off of ur face. handling (wut the car was built for) is basically, freaking insane for that lil car. yes it owns the evo/sti in autox (lighter, better weight distribution 50/50 front/back/right/left, and smaller) weight transfer on the s2k is freaking amazing. it's a very very very fun car. but factor in practicality, the Evo pwns it.

thats why i'm going to get the evo 9 in like 2 days. if it were down to me i'd still get the evo over the s2k, just because of practicality. i know the op already made a decision on the evo, and i'd have made the same choice if i lived in ohio (almost went to college there so i kinda know wut it's like). anyways, the s2k is a perfect car in a less practical world (eg. if u have a more practical car, such as the evo =P), but as ur only car, the evo's better.

the s2k is not as bad as some of the members are making it to be. it is a very very fun lil roadster

agree with happymadison about the long corner part. the grip on the s2k is not as good as the evo, but dat's why it's so fun can't wait to get my evo

i believe both are amazing cars. i heard s2000 is built in the same factory as the honda nsx, and the engines are 100% hand built. you cant go wrong with either car.

both cars are very competitive on the track as well.

Get both! I use my 2005 S2000 for a utility vehicle, has Blizzaks for winter, transported my transmission for the EVO to Shep's in the trunk, drive it everyday. As for fun the S2000 has it in the way of handling, as for acceleration of course the EVO, build quality goes the the S2000, practicality the EVO and looks the S2000 again, it's a toss-up, just get both and be done with it.

Um... I am going to admit I havnt driven an s2k so I cant tell you how I thought it felt but I am going to say that the S2k is about 2800lbs the evo is almost 3300lbs ! Thats a large difference, it is going to transition better than the evo... so the almost 500lb heavier evo is lighter on its feet... um yeah the evo is a good handler and has good grip and whatnot but I would say the s2k is a better "handler" although the evo and sti exit corners great, the entry speeds of the s2k is going to be better and transitions better. Just my .02

I used to drive an IS300 and recently got the S2k. I got the S2K because I wanted to learn how to become a better driver overall. It is true that I gave up a lot of amenities and space. At first I felt cramped in the S2k as it doesnt even have a place to put in large drinks! However, the S2000 is truly a pure sports car. Now I am used to it and it fits like a glove. When I drive other cars, they feel like SUVs! Nothing beats top down motoring and the engine sounds oh so sweet! 9000rpm is pure f*ckin bliss. You do need more skills to drive the S2000 fast as it rewards only the best drivers. On the track the evo covers up a lot of mistakes with its superior AWD. If you live in a place where it snows, the EVO would be the better choice. My brother and I often switch cars and I love the turbo power of the EVO. Its great for passing cars like nothing! The burst of speed is highly addictive. However, I noticed heel toeing is pretty sluggish on the EVO compared to the n/a engine response and pedal placement on the S2000, which is perfect. The S2000 also has one of the best shifters bar none. I can literally shift with two fingers on the S2000 whereas the EVO feels heavy/cheap. Looks wise, both look really nice in my opinion. Reliability wise, S200s are more reliable. They are handmade in the same factory as the NSX.

Now for all the crazy hp obsessed dudes. Do not get the S2000 if all you care about is HP. Even with a s/c, you cannot expect 350+ whp from a S2k. This car is not meant to be drag raced. The Evo is a monster when it comes to mods and just a few thousand can yield massive gains. However, true car enthusiasts know that on the track, crazy hp means nothing. Case in point: In a recent time attack event, S2ks with mostly just suspension mods came out on top of crazy turboed MR2, EVOs etc.

I can go on and on about both cars. I love both EVO and S2K and they both have pros and cons. I am a little biased towards the S2000 but I am just excited to be able to experience such awesome cars. The decision is up to you. Test drive both cars!
