Got it

Picked up silver one today. Whoever said it was stiff was RIGHT!!! Not crazy about headlight pattern, the way it just abruptly ends and jiggles up and down with jiggly suspension. Turn in is far better than anything I've ever driven. Steady state cornering is high , but not as good as I thought it would be. Says to rotate tires every 5000. With the rated treadware, wil they even last 5000, LOL! How can motor break in when it has synthetic in it already?? First gear wines (wurres) bad, anyone else have this? Got it at Global mitsu on Rt 22 in north plainfield NJ for MSRP. They have 3-4 yellow, 2 red and 1-2 black left. Supposedly getting another silver and another black. Thats all I can think of for now. Good to be back in the mitsu camp!!!

No, the cutoff from the headlight pattern is VERY abrupt. If you have headlights set lower, or you are driving behind another car, you can see edge of headlight pattern continuously bouncing up and down, one from the stiff susp and 2 from the fact I'm sure headlights (and everything else :-)) are vibrating. I call it jiggly because unless your on a prefectly smooth road, the susp is constantly bouncing slightly. It is race car stiff. Stiffness kind of reminds me of the 80's IROC's or 84 vette if I had to compare it to something (but it's stiffer than even the 84 vette).

that abrupt end is what happens when you are dealing with HIDs if they didnt do that you would deffiatly blind every other driver on the road

You will see the abrupt light cut-off pattern on all HID equipped cars.

Welcome to the club!

Hey, everyone warned ya about the stiff ride... But my lights don't vibrate at all, they stay still, they only move with the entire body of the car... Yours might be loose, take it back to see if they can tighten them..

I think it is with the body of the car, it's just the body is constantly jiggling like I said. BTW, how is your first gear, my seems very noisy, but I'm not sure that a lot of stuff that I would consider a possible problem on any other car might just be normal on this one due to the stiffness of everything (transmits lots more NVH overall??). Anyway, the car ROCKS!!! I'm so happy to get rid of that POS WRX. My alignemt was hosed from day one (verified on a rack) and the car wandered. I also went through 2 rear diffs in 7400 miles and I really did to beat the car bad at all. Add to that, that stock boost is lowered a lot on them in 1rst and sec gears from supposedly weak trannies. I could go on and on, but I was a DSM guy from 95 till last year and it's nice to look under the hood again and know I could tear the whole car apart with my eyes closed (if need be :-)). So, thanks for all the welcomes.

Try not to overanalyze the sounds you hear inside the car. You'll just drive yourself crazy. The car is much noisier inside than most. You are going to hear lots of engine, tranny, diff and road noise that otherwise would have been dampened out by sound deadening materials in a normal passenger car.

So unless the noise you hear is of a grinding or squealing nature, I'd suggest that you don't sweat it!

The first gear whine is normal.. first gear (and I think second) are straight cut, makes a whine like a supercharger.. I kinda like it.. I personally didn't think the suspension was that stiff... My old Neon had stiffer springs, and it was HARSH, this car is actually quite comfortable for me... Don't get me wrong, its pretty stiff.. But my past several cars were a 97 Z28-SS, 91 Corvette F41 suspension, Neon with Eibach 1.5" lowering springs.. 83 Z-28 with SCCA Spec rally springs/struts/shocks from Eibach, the suspension in the evo is stiff, but not bad at all.. Road noise and other noises are very pronounced at highway speeds in this car.. The only thing I don't hear as often as I would like is the engine and turbo..

congrats on the car! another silver EVO here in Chi-town!

i love the noises!!! it sort of reminds me of the in-car clips from rally cars!! so badass!!! whining noises of the gears is cooooooool!!!

i actually want to hear the turbo even more too... which i will as soon as i get my K&N filter installed.. that should do it! lol!.. i've already heard AMS's (automotosports.com) EVO with a K&N.. sounds sick as hell!!!!

then ill be setting the boost at 19 or 20 with a MBC and then ill be tuning the air/fuel with an Apex'i S-AFC! HELLO 310WHP!!!! and WAAAY more noise of couse.. but i love it!!!

can't wait to get it all in!
