Why would you turn the boost controller off? I don't think it will do anything for gas unless you have the gain (ramp up) the controller turned up abit. For low I would set it to 18 psi and for high 20.5 to 21 psi. But boost settings really depend on the setup you have. What do you have done to your Evo?

this may sound kinda tarted since i am just now getting into cars. but i was told when i turn it off it only boosts the waste gate(around 10 psi?). anyway there are 3 different setings on the controller, 1 for the boost, 1 for spool, and the other one is confusing. i have a 3" tbe plus cat delete, intake, and hks bov.

well when you turn the car on there is a failsafe built into the unit it will not go past 14 psi until you press a button on the unit so if that is low enough boost then dont touch the unit when ya turn car on.

the 3rd thing on the controller is the gain for boost consistancy. has to do with the sensitivity of the valve control any help with this would be nice.

If I understand my controller right, and I may be wrong...Think of gain as how much earlier (read not much) the turbo will spool in the RPM range. More gain will spool up at a lower RPM. The tradeoff (there is always a tradeoff) is that the boost will not hold as well at the top end. That is the simple explanation. Another way is to set the boost so it is close to the desired level then use the gain to fine tune it. Higher gain will reap higher boost if the boost knob is not touched. I only played with my controller for about 20 minutes then left it at 20 psi and forgot about it. Low set at 18 but I don't use low that much

(EDIT)
Read your directions on gain adjustment. IF you don't have them go to www.greddy.com and go to the tech tab. You can look at the profec b instructions. I have the type s and I think my gain control is set up different. My info my be wrong so sorry about that. When in doubt, read the directions.

doesn't matter if it's on or off.. it just depends on how much boost you're running.. more boost=more fuel

anyway for tuning, if you're having trouble.. here are some things to help
set gain = when you want your wastegate to open.. basically, rule of thumb, you want your wastegate to open 2psi before your max boost.. so..
if you want to run 22psi.. set gain should = 200.. just move the decimal one figure to the left and that is your boost.. so 200 = 20.0psi
gain is used to help you hold your boost.. start out on 5% and if it's not holding steady, move up in 5% incriments until you reach your full boost and hold it there til redline..
the main percentage is your main boost control.. start out at 20% and see where your boost is.. then move up in 5% incriments again until you reach your desired boost level..
good luck
