laptimes of the sti and evo

I posted this on a nother thread but I thought it was interesting enough to post here.

For those of you that have not seen the latest best motoring video. It is a great video even though its in japaneses. but it comepares the sti versus the evo. It's towards the end of the video but it has the japanese versions of the sti and the evo. The evo rs Vll with ayc/ayd does ok and come in 3rd., the evo grs Vll with out the ayc/ayd gets walked on by everyone and comes in last. The sti with the r/a spec c once it gets out of the pack absolutely pulls away from everyone. That is the susepension the new sti will have. Plus a more powerful motor. The other sti's had an older spec c suspension and a regular sti suspension. This was a 5 lap race.

Laptimes were

Car best lap Total lap time
ra/spec c sti 1:05:68 Lap 5 5:35:45
sti 1:06:65 Lap 5 5:37:58
evo 7 rs with ayc 1:06:64 Lap 5 5:37:84
old sti with spec c 1:06:46 Lap 2 5:38:14
evo 7 gsr 1:06:46 Lap 3 5:38:56

The engine is not more powerful. It's the 2.5 liter way that subaru was able to ge the same HP in the US Sti that the 2.0 liter engines get in Japan.

There have been other Best Motoring Videos that have shown the Evos coming out on top.

Unless they're under rating the car again in Japan, the JDM STi only has 280hp.

I know that nothing really matters until the us reviews start coming out. I am just passing along info to help us all make some educated guesses.
