The other video of the same car lapping the track at some new record time is much more impressive. It's footage from inside and outside the car, with a sick *** dogbox transmission, but I can't find the link. I have it here on the 'puter though...

Looks to me that it was a classic case of what is commonly known in rallying as "shoulder lock". Obviously he came too fast, locked brakes, tried to steer but forgot to release the brakes... It's a damn shame anyway...

 

That looked like Nobuteru Taniguchi driving @.@!!!! He rarely makes mistakes (set Tsukuba's two top times in that Evo last year btw)! Aww poor Evo.... It was so nice looking too. =\
