OMFG iv had it with mitsubishi...
I'm also leary that it's NOT the TC either.. It's been replaced several times and the problem has not been fixed. So, even if it IS the TC going bad after 1800 miles each time, there's another root problem.
I think the mechanics at the local dealership ate trying to hand out the quick-fix without really investigating.

the most recent time it was replaced...i just drove down the street and it feels like they didnt touch a thing in my car except use my tub of diaqueen...hmmm which they havnt payed me back for yet...
I think you got a lemon bro. I mean I know several people with evos ranging in all years and I have never heard that happening to either one of them. The worst I have ever heard of is people going through clutches quite frequently in the 03 evo.

Maybe it's the Tranny or the Diffs...theres plenty of other places other than the TC that can whine. Tell Mitsu to check every single thing until they fix it or you are going to SUE! Put your Stock Catback back on before taking it to the Dealership again...

Jump on a local forum, find out where the locals bring their Evo's and which dealerships are good. Sucks but...
One thing you could do if you are feeling brave. Put the car on a lift or up on jack stands, great jack stands, not the cheap ones and get under the car. An old shade tree mechanice trick is to take a short piece of wood, such as a shortened broome stick. Systematically place one end of the stick against the differentials, the transfer case, anything with gears and bearings and identify WHERE the vibration/grinding/noise is coming from. Just be safe.
Furthermore, call the MMC regional office and explain the problem without complaining. You want them on your side. They are also who you'd call in the case you have a lemon, not the dealership.
