Transfer Case?

Yep another "it might be broke help me thread".

I recently bought my evo.

Noise comes from evo when decelerating , when no clutch is enganged and is still in gear.

The noise is gone if it is out of gear or clutch is engaged.

The noise is a high pitched whine.

Mostly higher RPM when Im slowing down.

I bought the car this way... just wondering if it is normal or if it is my transfercase or something else is screwed.

I have a carmax Extended Warranty so it is covered for 75$

Any input would be Appreciated

Is it rpm-related with the clutch in (ie tranny disengaged)? If so, it may just be the standard we-have-a-big-hole-in-our-hood-so-we-hear-more-engine-noise stuff.

the drivetrain whines, it's normal. unless it's really loud, where it's difficult to hear anything else.

When the tc is going, the whine will hurt your ears and 60 mph.
